It's a company car so it's has to be a new car. They are currently investigating if pre-reg is an option.
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.
....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

Logic and common sense don't seem to be in good supply.

Myself included - in 30 something years of motoring the most expensive car I've bought was £15k and I've never owned a new car. And hence the reason I suggested something which was actually within budget.Dominic wrote:Unfortunately not everyone has that budget.Jeremy wrote:Not something I'd buy personally but it seemed to fit your brief perfectly ! Brand new estates that make you feel special and go fast generally cost £50k+ in my book.

Mini clubmunter is a monstrosity!
Given the OP's brief I think the replies thus far confirm the car he is looking for doesn't actually exist. Whether the compromise which now has to be made is on his preference of looks (Mini), performance (mundane rep mobile, take your pick), how special it makes one feel (mundane rep mobile, take your pick), vehicle age (used 335d touring) or vehicle budget (C63 AMG wagon) only the OP can decide.

Jeremy

Dave, all horsey girls I've known have either driven or aspired to drive a mini (as Father has a Disco/FFRR/RRS). Ryannnnnn is a horsey girl. Just let her buy the mini.

Is that the same electricity company that didn't expect the Spanish acquisition?ryallm wrote: I was visiting a client a while back (a certain Scottish electricity company) and my host for the day advised me that it was, wait for it, a disciplinary offence not to hold onto the handrail while climbing the stairs in their office building. How could you work for a company which treats its own staff like such idiots? Told the guy I was a skydiver and like to make my own assessment of risk, thanks very much. The world is being taken over by this health and safety bollocks.
Some of the H&S stuff is ridiculous, but that's what happens when the lunatics take over the asylum!
The electricity industry is being run by economists & accountants, not Engineers!!

Re: £21k Estate Car.... Choices? Opinions?
So.. progress update.
After much faffing around trying to work out if her current car is actually ok... it's been decided that it's definitely not, so new car is required asap.
Apparently one of the 'perks' of her job is being able to choose her own car, rather than the company help in any way whatsoever. They seem to be missing the point that the budget is pathetic and having rules like "no pre-registered, lightly used' etc. doesn't help. They are also ignoring the fact that the budget they set many years ago is no longer enough if you look at the RRPs of any car they deem acceptable.
Basically... It would seem that the people in charge of the company cars here are retarded. Budget is £21.5k to spend, regardless of how much she gets as a trade in for the Audi. So one garage could offer her £12k for it and another £14k... but the sticker price can't be more than £21.5k on what she buys.. regardless of the cost to change. Absolute muppets.
So with a fixed budget of £21.5k to spend we're going shopping this weekend. So if anyone spots any deals on a good diseasal estate... let me know!!
Cheers!
Dave.

Can you persuade the garage to fudge the numbers?

That'll be the plan.BiggestNizzy wrote:Can you persuade the garage to fudge the numbers?

Not a huge amount of wiggle room though. Billy basic spec sheds aren't on the wish list. Want something as nice as poss.
Saw some insignia deals with £8k off list... May investigate them. Probably no chance of merc etc given we can't go pre reg.

Was thinking more give you a "crappy" trade in on the paperwork while knocking the difference off the car.
