Never thought of the veggie aspect. I am lucky that most of my nurses do have a sense of humour and they genuinely like talking to me, hell what competition do I have, and of course I am polite and friendly with them. You should hear some of the old goats talking to them, mostly men.

I have been lucky with the food, had Chinese, Indian, Italian, but the best was Friday, fish, chips and peas, as good as from a decent chippy, and you would be OK with the homemade soups, salads, quiches etc as we get a choice from four. Plus Verian brings me in a whole roast chicken to snack on as I am awake from 0530 to 0030.

Need to see the doctor again ASAP as I think the infection has now just about gone and it is the gout that is causing the redness and swelling, I believe that is what it does. I was able to put more weight on it today and start to walk again, so if it keeps that up I should be OK. Verian says the dogs are missing me as I have not been away since SPAZZ, so hoping for Tuesday.

I have Mission Control set up by the bed, Macbook, iPad, iPhone 6, Bluetooth ear phones, all need charging but have left them one socket for the drip pump machine.

Last time I was in hospital there was a guy in who had been hit by a 4x4 while walking along the pavement so was in traction. He was already on the orthopedic ward when I arrived and was complaining about everything, the patients with alzheimer's crying at night, not getting his "peels" and worst of all the nurses saying he could not have three sugars in his tea. They said it was NHS policy. He would get a cup of tea put in front of him at the set times and refuse to touch it while getting very angry. This went on all the time I was there. Anyway on about day three one of the nurses told me they had put three sugars in his tea every time.

Turned out he was run over on purpose by another drug dealer.

Hospitals are not the best of places but a sense of humour will get you through. Get well soon.

Millie was in for a while with a mystery rash.

Doctors would come to visit just to see it.
They were very nice.
They didn't know what it was.

Then it went away.

Have not seen a doc since Thursday but the infection seems to have gone, the swelling is down, and I can walk reasonably well again, so hope to get out today.

Just have to hope they fit me in ASAP Dom.

Surgeons secretary says that he is going on holiday in July, so she is hoping for June.

Out of hospital and home now. Infection has gone but going to have to live with the gout at the moment. Hopefully that can now be treated.

Foot is now fine for the clutch, better than it was at KH, so will look at a gentle run around the local roads in N3 tomorrow. Verian will probably object, but she does not have a foot to stand on as long as I do.

Hope you're feeling better tut! We're planning on coming up to Scotland for hols in August, I'll pop up and see you.

Hospitals are odd places. I spent a couple of weeks in one a few years ago on two separate occasions. I felt fine and wasn't ill as such other than my left kidney was showing signs of stress (kidney stone complication) The ward I was on had 3 old geezers two of whom had dementia and didn't know what day of the week it was. The worst was a guy who had had a big operation and had a multitude of machines plugged into him including something in a vein in his neck. He came up from recovery still asleep. My sleep patterns were all over the place so I was awake through the night. In the wee small hours there was a commotion behind the curtains around his bed. He'd obviously woken up but it sounded like he was having a fight. The there was a yelp and all this blood starting pumping onto the floor. I was hooked up to some drips myself so started frantically pressing the call button. The nurse came running round and saw what was going on. She pulled back the curtain and the guy had pulled out all the tubes that were in him. It looked like a scene from the Saw movies with blood squirting everywhere. It took three nurses to hold him down while a fourth sedated him again.

The old guy next to me (Horace) wouldn't keep his clothes on as he had a skin complaint that made him really sore. I woke up every morning to the sight of his old man's scrotum dangling over his bed.

They should actually be put down Kelv unless they can drive an Elise around KH in less than 60secs.

I was lucky this time with my own ensuite room and decent food, but you can bet that will not happen in Aberdeen. I should have been on Highland Hoon and they were staying a 30 min drive away in Aviemore, so 0730 Sunday morning I heard familiar exhaust sounds and two friends had driven up to give me my HH T- shirt, and they were allowed in no problem.

Be great to see you both in August, and you will of course be staying at least the night.
