Pilot/spigot (Depending on which side of the pond you are on) is out, trying to find a replacement, might be a standard sized jobbie.
Got my free propshaft, took 4 hours to chop it out of the scrap car, what nightmare. Spent all of yesterday dropping the rear suspension, replacing the prop and refitting the suspension, blown away with the german engineering, so simple and tough. It all came apart and went back together without Mr angry grinder!
So far on a 30 year old car I have taken the entire transmission and rear suspension off I have broken 2 exhaust studs (Taken apart less than a month ago too
) an exhaust hanger u bolt and I had to chop off the drive shaft bolts as they were a stupid tri-square drive socket thing. Everything else has come off and gone back together.
After I chopped off the drive shaft bolts the remaining studs all came out by hand too, so if I'd tried a bit harder I'm sure they would have come out OK.
Bearing from Porsche £5.34 +VAT, a silly little oil seal for the front of it: £14.13 + VAT

Well after serveral evenings hard graft it lives!
Made it to the national meet without missing a beat (Apart form being a pain to start but it had been standing for several weeks!) 150 mile round trip. Its running better than it ever has!
Needs a few tweaks, new plugs and the crank breather unblocking (Might improve my miles per gallon of oil
)
However I'm now having bad thoughts...
2.3 5 pot 20v....£150
Its in preston too... Might have to go take a look...
If she finds out I'm a dead man
The theory says its a direct fit, I'll need a different roll bar (Later model) and to get a slim line fan. Exhaust will need work too, but the mounts are the same, the bellhousing is the same, with the extra pot and 20V its reportedly 170 bhp, thats an extra 50 over what I have now for a small increase in weight...
Might have to get the lump as a reserve, she won't realise that its got an extra pot

Well, didn't buy the 5 pot, too much work at the moment.
I have finally got up with the sooty plugs problem, soots them up in less than an hour running and it's doing my head in. Comp test results were good 165/165/165/160 cold and 185/185/185/185 hot (And probably wet with oil
)
As soon as I can find somewhere to put the porker off the road, the head will come off and then I'll find out why I'm using so much oil, I'm hoping that its valve stem seals and short journeys to the shops thats going it. Oil pooling on the valves on shutdown time and again. Got all the gaskets and tools ready.
A few more bits to gather then it'll be EFI fitting time, I'm running out of excuses for not....
On the bright side the clutch/spigot bearing is silent as a mouse and the addition of gearbox oil (It was pretty much empty
) has made gearchanges possible once more!
The Pig will fly again!
:D:D
