Defacing the Elise.
Gary... you can get some half decent CD/MP3/DVD players that don't have pop out screens. I'm not sure if a pop out screen would work in an elise (certainly not mine I dont think).
Anyway, I've seen a few that are single DIN units so fit in place of your CD player and the screen on it is plenty enough for occasional use. That way you are cutting down the weight you are adding and the space you are using up. MP3, no need for CD changer. DVD goes straight in the head unit... and you can use a TomTom/NavMan/Garmin as required suckered to your windscreen.
Would you really want a sat nav screen away over on the left hand side anyway? What would the viewing angle be like?
Andy.

I have no signature.
I was asking for recommendations of Audio Specialists who might not rip me off.GregR wrote:IIRC AndyG's RLC came fitted with a 40in plasma - wasn't he selling that?
As for this educated discussion you're after, try an audio forum. We're here for the cars and the driving of them
You enjoy your driving experience, I will enjoy mine

Not sure RE viewing angle. I will have to see it in situ. I will check it out and if it works, post a few pics etc for those interested.gorrie wrote:Gary... you can get some half decent CD/MP3/DVD players that don't have pop out screens. I can help!!
Ill be shot down too - but I have a Pioneer Avix XC-1 fitted to my S2 Exige
List of features include: 7" flip out touch screen, Sat-Nav, Ipod connector, DVD player, TV Player (not hooked up in mine cause ariel is duff), PS2 connection (again not connected), DAB, G-Meter, MP3 player and a standard radio to boot.
The radio is still duff, but the improved head unit had a massive effect with the quality/ loudness of stuff coming out of the standard speakers. The unit cost me about £1600 a few years back (its been fitted to a couple of cars), and that included fitting. To fit to the Exige cost £150. There is an "external" box, which houses most of the goodies, and it fitted under the dash, behind the left hand speaker.
Ill be thought of as a bit of an nancy
, but I love listening to my tunes (with a Stage 2 you need something powerful), and I can also check my "G" when driving sideways at the track!!
the sat nav is also a handy feature, and my wife has watched a caouple of movies when on long journeys.
DO IT!!

Please get a life, or a modified Corsa.... Or how about you pass your test and find out what it's like to drive the thing rather than add more weight to it with pointless gadgets.. FFS
Sorry, but come on..
I have done over 3,000 miles in the car since purchase, another 10,000 in my girlfriends 307cc. Passing my test has nothing to do with wanting a decent media player in the car.
I wonder why people get so snobby about adding what in reality is an enhacement to the existing CD player?
gary.
Okay folks... Easy now - no need to get aggro with the guy. Yes, it's daft to do this to an Elise (I took the stereo out cos it was dead weight) but we should remember that we're supposed to be the friendly Elise owner's group.
For those who are still wondering (I know some are) Gary is for real, he's not someone trolling (I've met him, as did a few others at the TT trackday)
The way he's going about learning isn't usual (or well-advised IMHO), but let's show a bit of cameraderie and not get wired in at every opportunity...
