Sounds good,

my riding is mainly bennachie centric , millstone, pitfichie etc, but always keen to try new places,

Iain, Callum Marshal and Andy Smith have been out a few times, PM me your numbers and we can sort something out?

Scotty's bike is getting serviced just now and i suspect he will be keen to get out once he gets it back :-)

entered a challenge next year and NEED to get myself a cyclecross bike.

Any recommendations? Trying not to get carried away and spend £1500. would rather spend £800 on a good second hand bike.

The event you messaged about?

Had a look at this bike last week (it's just up the road from me), it's very nice & very well spec'd for the money with Mavic wheels, ultegra and hydraulic discs for a grand, should be about your size? pete (the mod on here) has last year's version in red.

Scotty,

Steve informed me that you had asked him at the weekend and Gary text me the other day to see if I fancied it too.

We are both in. :thumbsup

Do you fancy doing the Inverness and Pitlochry Etape rides next year?

Training will ramp up again once I am back home. I will need to burn off the calories after consuming one or two glasses of Prosecco and the occasional Tiramisu. :D

Scotty,
Could've had my Boardman but I've flogged it to Father in Law...

Still value I guess for new bikes:

Those brakes are fine on woodys bike (now Mrs woodys bike), certainly compared to cantis

I'm thinking a gravel bike would be more suited to this type of event rather than a 'full' cyclocross. It's 48 miles on road and 33 miles off road, mostly fire track. I can't see myself getting into cyclocross racing anytime soon and the gravel bike would make a better winter steed for the road.
