Hamilton in the wet
Yup, he is already probably the best rookie in the history of F1, regardless of whether he wins the title. But I would still really like to see the look on Ron's face if Kimi takes itRICHARDHUMBLE wrote:Lets not forget that Hamilton is in his first season, and a top 3 slot in the chapionship is a huge achievement regardless, however to win first time out...

Incidentally, any bets on where Captain Paranoid (aka Alonso) will end up next season? Seems to be burning all his bridges with McLaren http://www.planetf1.com/story/0,18954,3 ... 56,00.html. Renault look woefully uncompetetive at the moment, no room at Ferrari, and the lastest rumours even suggest Red Bull as a possibility, but they have DC and Webber contracted

My money is on a 2009 Ferrari seat - which inturn rules out a 2008 seat at Renault. He has already ruled a year off out as he thinks he will get rusty. Renault deal would bring in a big Spanish sponsor so would be good for the team and give them the funds to put this year behind them. I think he will stay at McL and then move to Ferrari for '09.
I have a lot of respect for Kimi when he is on it he is the fastest but he tends to cruise when Alonso or MS would fight to make the impossible happen. Just look at all those almost years at McL.
I think Kimi will win and Alonso will come 2nd and Lewis will win the title coming in 3rd. McL should be strong - bring it on!

Interesting article here.

I think it's a shame to lead the championship in your rookie season then miss out on the title in the last race. As my Dad often told me, from experience, "far better to go out the Scottish Cup before the final rounds than to make it all the way there and fall at the last hurdle!". It's all about thinking about that hill to climb all over again next season, I suppose.
I think if Lewis had delivered strong performances but been no higher than 4th or 5th placed driver all year, he could finish the season in a better place mentally than coming 2nd after what might be considered an avoidable error at China. I think that would kill me. But then that's why I play golf and don't drive an F1 car
Fernando used to have my full respect particularly for what he did for the F1 following in Spain (formerly practically nil). But this year he's behaved like a pratt. Kimi is by all standards a fabulous driver (and technician) but he has zero personality, so give me a pratt like Fernando or indeed a party animal like Button any time, the interviews and offtrack stuff makes up more than the races really. Lewis seems to be a good blend
Anyways, it's all great fun and was enough to rekindle my interest in F1 just when I'd vowed I was boycotting it next year!
I better book in the time for the Brazilian GP now...

Kimi may seem like a robot when interviewed, but he famous (infamous?) for being a full on party animal, with lots of stories in the tabloids about his late night boozing sessions. He apparently upset Ron Denis a few times with his partying antics - definitely a point in his favourcampbell wrote:Interesting article here.

He may have even been leading the championship if Ferrari hadn't tried to bend/stretch the rules of starting behind the safety car in Japan last week. 7 points between Kimi & Lewis... if Lewis had picked up 2 less last week due to a Kimi win..ryallm wrote:Can't wait for the last race! I'll be rooting for Raikkonen as usual. Just like to point out that Kimi has has 2 retirements due techical failure this year (none for Lewis) and would probably now be leading the championship otherwise![]()
