Pictures do say more than a 1000 words... blimey.

Is the windscreen surround meant to deform or should it be able to withstand load? That was 1 thing that put me off a TVR Chim... no roll bar and I believe the windscreen is not capable of taking loads either. I think the Tamora has a load bearing windscreen surround but wasn't sure about the Elise...

I guess it's all down to the roll bar behind our noggings then?
I have no signature.

Cheers for the support guys.

I am very very thankful for the roll bar where my head was as it definitely saved my life. Even then tho i had to tild my head as it was hitting the road (6'3 tall).

Could not have imagined the stage of events if it wasnt for that roll bar, i deffo would not be here typing this tho.

Shock has started to disspapear a bit now (nothing to do with the rum n coke honest haha), very very greatful that i walked away from this, and even more so that i didnt hit any other cars or cause any other injuries.

Once again thanks for the encouraging words guys :)

Good one to walk away from Ricky, aquaplaning is not nice, and even though you normally get away with it, it always feels terminal.

Good thing to remember is that in the nine years that I have been on Scottish_Elises, and the countless cars that have been written off in that period, we have not had one death, nor if I recall correctly, not even a major injury.

As as been pointed out they are strong little buggers.

Gorrie

When I wrote mine off and went end over end, even though the roll bar V'd behind my head, the windscreen surround stayed intact which was probably what saved me.

They are very strong little cars, if anybody was to tell me they were after a safe rag top, i would have no 2nd thoughts about sending them the way of the Elise.

no and yes It is designed to take a large load and when you see the pics it shows just how large an impact it was, the rollover hoop behind your head is there to stop you getting squished. There is a line drawn from the front of the car to the rollover hoop and the driver/passenger should stay within it.

Oh & BTW you are going to feel it in the morning I'm guessing all over whiplash. As I am not a doctor I cannot recommend any drugs to take for this pain and for me to say ibuprofen would be irresponsible

I believe that whiplash can be helped by gentle stretching exercises....

Yeah, its meant to be really bad to do nothing and sit about, gentle stretches have worked in the past.

My dad's advice was keep it between the hedges and shiny side up, and if that fails -make it worth the excess!
