Watching the news last night and someone chipped in with a valid point. The Police are sh!t scared of doing anything that will land
them in court, thugs can throw bricks, petrol bombs etc but if one plod harms a 'protester' (term used loosely) then they will find themselves under the same media glare and witch hunt that followed the student protests.
<controversial>
The police need to get into plain clothes, cover their faces and then go out in gangs with Batons. They are not officially allowed to do stuff, but if they are not identified as police officers, then they are just "one of the rest"

Scenes of the rioters has led me to believe that we have no chance whatsover in the 2012 olympics.
On the evidence I've seen thus far the discus, javeline and shot put are well beyond us. Those rioters cannot throw for sh*t.....

The police can't cope or choose not to? An interesting strategy.

I'm down in London, no problems where I am, but there are quite a few issues for others in the office. It sounds like there are ganags running around in many parts not just those highlighted. Order needs to be restored by some means. I can understand the reluctance of using the army, but these are exceptional circumstances and it would buy some time.

Confusion in Tottenham this morning, as the people who torched a post office at the weekend turn up wanting to collect their benefits.

I can see a rise in vigilantism tonight, the Turks & Kurds protected their assets last night in Stoke Newington.

I was lying in my bed last night, and heard a massive bang, about 2am. Ran upstairs to look out of the window at a gang of 10 throwing paving slabs at the windows of the Hampstead Carphone Warehouse. Watched as, within the space of 30 secs, the gang was through the roller shutters, inside the shop, and then running out to the two waiting cars with armfuls of stuff.
They jumped into an 11 plate Golf, one of the Zipcars that you can hire by the half hour. Hiring a car to go to an affluent area of the city just to raid a phone shop kind of shows what a lot of the people involved are up to; an excuse to go on the rob.
Cops turned up literally 30 seconds after they left in a pair of 5 series BMWs, pointed them in the direction and gave them the plate of the Golf and off they went after them. Mob rule prevails, and this is in a street where you wouldnt get change out half a mill for a 2 Bedroom flat - lots of people who work hard for their stuff, having to deal with scummers touring about London in hirecars just to steal a few phones.

Okay so maybe my figures are bullsh!t but I think that there would have been a fair amount of foreigners involved. And maybe I should be PC and say "if" there were any "foreigners" involved they should be sent back to their country of origin.
And before you call me prejudice against foreigners...I am a foreigener, I wasn't born in the UK and neither were any of family. If you're trying to say I might be prejudice of people of a different race or color, I never once mentioned race or color in my post. My comment wass aimed at all races and all colors including white foreigners.
