Right,

I don't have a dyno plot online yet but the good news is the fuelling is fine on the standard ECU.

With the 285 cams there are no gains to be had on the second cam but there is a big increase in torque between 4000 RPM and 6200 RPM.

Bad news: Cams are about £500 per pair.

It has come to my attention recently that a couple of S2 Exiges with 20k miles on them have developed nasty tappet noises and when investigated it has been found that the cam lobes have worn severely.

I am looking at one on Friday which has similar noises. These cars are all running standard cams so this is a very worrying development.

So, how will this effect performance if you get the ECU reflash.
For arguments sake, dropping the 2nd cam to 5200 RPM ?

Same explanation but just further down the revs?

Typical. This problem doesn't rear its ugly head until I buy a fcuk Toyota engine car, that's just run out of warranty yesterday and sounds kinda tappety (now amplified through paranoia). I'm sure I'm jinxed

Anyway, Tut:

Nana-na-nana...Honda cars fcuk up...err...Honda cars screw with...bugger...can't think of anything bad to say...hohum

There is a very good thread on Exige.com in the S2 section including pics of the cams that are worn

Wont know without driving.....

I know companies like Revo can give you a "5 hour" map to test and see if you like it. Would be cool if lotus could do the same. I did notice in that official line that there is no mention of the A and B spec ECUs being able / not able to be reflashed....

think its the '06 MY cars that have the 4e as they have electronic throttles
if evolution don't take care of it, redesign it

colin i think yours is a T4.

The most important bit is the code on the side. If it starts with an A then you need a new ecu, if its a b-spec then you will be ok to reflash. cheers Ed

The only place I have seen that said is on exiges.com . Like I said above, it doesnt mention that in the "official release" ? I wonder.....
