OMFG my dad had one of those and that's all I remember about it too! Arg the fukin pain!
Mainly due to those hot summers of the 70's, had it been an 80's car we would of never noticed!

Oh one other thing, it was some new autumn red colour which was supposed to look different depending on the light. Yea, during the day it looked brown and at night it looked brown only darker.

Appologies for not joining in any more of the car nostalga but any of the dozen+ cars I owned before the Elise I'd prefer to forget about!

Probably not as many cars as Schoomer. But here goes;

Ford Escort Mk3 1.3L estate- Nice in ivory 8)
Ford Escort Mk3 1.3 GL
Ford Fiesta Mk2 XR2
Peuguot 309 GTI-Crashed Heavily boy does the back step out quick
Vauxhall Cavalier SRI-Boring but was practical & quick
Ford Escort Mk5 1.8I Ghia-Dead slow fitted K & N 57i kit for more ooomph
VW Golf Mk3 GTI 16v-Quick never missed a beat
VW Golf VR6-Peach of an engine, really quick
VW Passat V6 Syncro-Dull and slow
Audi S3-Quick but too small for kids
Audi S4-Full throttle made the world go backwards, 17 mpg was a killer
BMW 330i Sport Imola Red
BMW 330i Sport Black-Loved both the Bimmers
Mini Cooper-Gail's
BMW 118d Sport-Gail's again
BMW X5 3.0d Sport-Now Gails
Lotus Elise 111R-Best on list by far.

Oh, there were a couple of rally cars in there as well;

Subaru RX 4wd-Don't get confused with Legacy or Impreza. You had to put it into 4wd at the stage start, had high and low transfer box as well. With 270 hp it was quick though.

Vauxhall Nova 1300 Grp A- Cracking little car did a few single venues and most of the Scottish Rally Championship in 1990. That was when 55 miles on stage cost £100! Went by the way for a wife, mortgage and kid's :!:

 just realised where all my money has gone :!: Not on the cars by the way

1.1967 Triumph Spitfire Mk3, ended up under a tipper truck after 4 months
father was driving it he survived with no injuries but I still remind him about it, but kindled my love of sports cars.
2.1968 Viva HB, rusted away
3.1973 Escort MK1, 1300cc, drum brakes, learnt all about brake fade.
4.1981 Cortina IV
5.1984 Montego 1.6L
6.1987 Montego 2.0L
7.1990 Peugeot 405 1.6 started burning oil from valve stem oil seals at
20K
8.1992 Sierra 1.8LX
9.1994 Mondeo 1.8LX, kept for 8 years, paying for daughters education,
no spare cash.
10.2001 Mondeo 2L Zetec
11.2003 C-max Ghia 2L TDCI, pulls like a train but has spent more
time in the garage due to electric malfunctions than all the rest put
together, soon to make way for.
12.Fiesta 1.6 Ghia, wife wants a smaller car as she will be driving it more
now I have the Lotus. Also giving up the caravan
as eldest daughter is emigrating to Canada and holidays will be spent
visiting her.
13. 1st mid life crisis, Honda CB500, sat direct access test and bought this
with 160 miles on the clock 3 days later, have enjoyed using it but
wanted something with a bit more protection that could be used every
day so
14.2nd midlife crisis 10 years later Lotus Elise 111S, wanted one since
they were introduced, finances allowed it this year, absolutely brilliant
and looking forward to a long and happy time with it.
