I do not wear a watch, but this reminded me of my Grandfathers gold Hunter pocket watch that is sitting in a drawer along with my medals.

I know it is over 100 years old, not keeping it for sentimental reasons, but does it have any value? It is in fully working condition, unlike myself.

I'd imagine it would be worth a few bob Tut. Depending on whether it's 9ct or 18ct... or plated.
Could easily be over a grand though. Might be worth taking it along to a specialist to see what he reckons... & maybe get an insurance valuation in case it gets lost at the back of your drawer. :thumbsup

Wrong on at least one count G - that U Boat looks suspiciously like a 'submersible'. That also looks like a PRS 20 on the bottom row too ..

Absoulutely spot on Greg, got the submersible as a freebie when i bought the PRS20 so thought i would put it in to even out the numbers. The one in the top middle was just a fun purchase a Alessi Daytiner.

Nice Display Gooldie
Greg ....you're spending far too much time on TZUK!!
(I got them all.......but was struggling with the LED one in the middle of top row. I also think that your duvet cover is from white company :D )

You should be able to tell the manufacturer, type and purity of gold from the hallmark
Given the price of gold nowadays, the value will be in the weight of gold as against the value of the complete watch
Given its sentimental value,I would have it valued for insurance purposes as some hunters in prime condition will fetch over £2000

:cheers

How on earth did you manage to figure that one out???? I had to go back and look at the photo to make sure the label wasn't hanging out! that is quite scary.

It is Hallmarked and has what could be a serial number on each cover Iain, of which there are one on the front and two on the back, but it seems to be patinated with age and not easy to read.

Tut
Patina is good
Also the fact that it is not engraved is good
The serial number of the movement should match that of the case?
Your local Auction house should be able to value....or next time you are in Edinburgh take it to Hamilton and Inches?

My 30th next year and have an idea of finding a Sea Dweller from my year of birth, 1981.
Any of you watch nuts (Greg?) know where I could source one? Any idea on price?
