A good video on the benefits of a car on normal road tyres (and 4x4) vs a 2 wheel drive with winter tyres.

PS - Campbell - they used Skodas :cheers

But they didn't complete the test with a 4x4 Yeti with winter tyres

Can't say we've had that bad weather in Aberdeen to really test the car out

Has winter started yet?

Donkey has got himself a set of 17" rims, all nicely powder coated with some Conti 825 winter tyres attached.

All prepare yourself for the mildest winter of all time

Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

I have the winter wheels/tyres on a tyre tree in my garage ready to go back on the S-Max when the conditions dictate. Also have 4 winters for my S3 but just tyres so will need to get these swapped over when needed :thumbsup

Having just replaced the summer tyres on the front of the Audi, no doubt I will have to change on to winter tyres pretty soon!

nicola's civic has hers fitted already after she scudded a pothole and ruined on of her (thankfully almost bald) summers. Roll on the snow.

Hopefully the timing of my family veehickle replacement will negate the requirement for winters, and I will be awash with smugosity at the sign of the first snowflake

Oh, and this'll mean I'll have 18" winters available, they come with a free Volvo :blackeye

Had a set of the new Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 in 275/30/20 and 235/35/19 delivered for the Evora a few weeks back. Planning on sticking them on the car sometime in October depending on how cold it gets.

On the basis of your Avatar this will be a product from the Land Rover stable (Disco ? ) ?
I'd temper your smugness as 4wd on summer tyres, although undeniably better than 2wd, it's no substitute for winter tyres. Witness my brother-in-law 2 years ago spinning all 4 wheels in his Disco

Not needing something as big as a Disco, so it's a FL2, and I have first-hand experience of winters on a front wheel drive car...this one has proper 4x4 tyres on though, and I live just over a mile from the centre of Dundee
