Sundays Topgear - (Ep 3)
Did anyone spot all 3 presenters watches from inside the 4 door supercars?
Think Jeremy had an IWC on, May had a Rado on & Hammond - not sure - looked like a Breitling / Omega.
Two negatives make a positive but only in Scotland do two positives make a negative - 'Aye right.'

Work Horse - Ford Transit - Full of crap spec....... 170bhp one :-)

There definitely is a connection between watches and cars. I think the earlier post is right - it must be something to do with something being mechanical and functional, yet also a piece of design or even art. I have a very modest collection consisting of a submariner and two vintage omegas. Strangely enough though, I dont like watches branded by car makers.

On Sunday, on Hammond, it was a Sub - doesnt wear it all the time, but spotted it a few times.

:damnfunny You are right of course Robin, but watches are like cars - a £6000 Kia/ Proton etc does the job required and costs less to buy and to service so we don't need to spend any more to get around - but we do.

A £25 ( whatever) tells the time and when it stops doing so it gets binned - but we still like to have TAG /Brietling /Rado/ Rolex etc and pay more to buy and service because we like owning them.

Fickle bunch that we are :D

Question for you all.

I'm thinking of buying a Tag Heuer Carrera (Model CV2010)
This retails at £2150 in the UK.

however - in the USA, you can buy this online for approx £900 cheaper.

I'm just a wee bit scared in case i get ripped off - fake website / doesnt arrive etc....

I am going to Hong Kong / Sydney & Singapore in September.
Will there be similar discounts over there compared to the UK prices ?

30% off Retail should be easily attained at Duty Free or Far Eastern outlets on that particular model
Haggle hard and there undoubtedly will be another jeweller around the corner if you don't get the deal you want

Cheers Ian,

The other option was http://www.WatchClick.com
They are selling it for $1945
http://www.watchclick.com/tag-heuer/i-t ... -4635.html
To avoid UK customs - i was thinking of shipping it to my mates dads house in Florida & getting him to bring it back next time he's back int he UK
Doing it this Way, i should save approx £950 !

Cheers

Non-geek opinion here, but I saw a few after-market matt blacked submariners and explorers in a jewellers in Marbella a couple of years back. They looked cool but I reckoned it was more a fashion thing than a timeless look. There are few companies that do this, another one was http://www.blackoutconcept.com/

Seems a bit bonkers to spend 5k on a watch, 5k making it arguably look not as good, and then its worth 5k (or maybe less, I dont know, cant be that big a market for it or the watch companies would do it themselves surely).
