Jen,

As posted on Camping thread (!), dreadful thing to happen, but clearly the right professionals got to work...and you kept your head when it mattered...and Alan is already on the mend.

He's had a serious trauma (in the truest sense of the word) so is bound to be peaky, and from what I know of him, bound to be frustrated at having to lie down to it all.

The human body is an amazing instrument and it's genuinely incredible what it can self-repair. If only our Elises were like that eh.

Look after yourself, now, as you'll be in charge for a while when he comes home. Ah - right - you always are anyway ;-)

Best wishes,

Campbell

Let us know when he is ready for the great unwashed public to visit him Jen.

Also tell him that he still has a couple of jobs to do on N3 so he is not getting out of it that way. He needs two arms for it.

Sounds as if you did a great job instead of panicking when faced with something as horrific as that, getting that right can make all the difference to the outcome. Did you put a tourniquet on? Not a lot we can do at present, but as has already been said, you have a lot of good friends on here who are thinking of you and hoping for the best. It must have been a big comfort having Ali and Nicola with you to help you through it.

Thanks f**k.

Like Neil, I was waiting for news all last night - I actually must have checked the forum just before you posted as I toddled off to my kip around that time. So happy that the first signs are good - as others have said, he's a strong lad, lets hope the heart is just fine.

Take care.

Tourniquet's are a bit iffy for pre-hospital use by First Aiders - Can lead to additional problems, and aren't really recommended as an initial option. (Direct pressure / bandaging firmly with what is available is preferred).

Anyway, glad to hear the repair went well, and I'm sure he'll be back on his feet in no time. :thumbsup

I can only echo what everyone else has already said....... I hope everything works out fine

Jen, I was recently in hospital, not for something as serious, and the strain it put on my partner was immense.....if you need any help, ask. I am sure everyone on this site would do anything and everything possible to help you.

Good news Jen, Tut called me last night so wasnt sure what I was going to hear today but thats a big relief. If hes moving his arm thats excellent, I think you really need to congratulate yourself for keeping it together when it mattered, well done. As above you need anything let us know.

Jen

Glad to hear he came through the op ok, there are easier ways of getting out of doing DIY in the house!

Hope everything works out ok, amazing what surgeons etc can do nowadays.
