I think you'll find that the inside 2 tyres are not touching the grass and the outside 2 are on the kerb/track. :thumbsup

here is a very rough n ready list of folk that have shown that they will compete (no entry forms out yet!)
Class A: >400bhp per tonne
  • Fiona Kindness - R32 GTR - 650bhp, 550WHP, 1420kg - Just under 390bhp per tonne but will run in A.
    Murray - R33 GTR - 700+bhp, 600WHP, 1400kg (+driver?!)
    William Ball - Tuscan Racer - 630bhp, 550WHP, 1200kg - ~460 bhp per tonne
    John Armstrong - FiEvo - 600WHP, 975kg, 615bhp per tonne
Jason Ogg - Impreza - 550whp?, 1300kg? to be tested
    Russ Paton - Evo VI - 600whp, 1310kg, 455hp/ton
    Brian Rennie - EVO
Graham Davidson - Noble - 450bhp per tonne

Class B: 300 - 400bhp per tonne
  • Adam Kindness - STi v4 TypeR - 450bhp, 380WHP, 1280kg - 297bhp per tonne, but will run in B to allow the planned weight reduction :D
James Braid - Impreza Classic - 400whp, 1300kg (both est)
    Bob Mackay - EVO 7 - 376WHP, 1400kg - Pending RR results.
    Chris Cherry - 106 GTi - 370bhp, ~330whp, 960kg = 340bhp per tonne
    Barry Kay- EVO VIII - 540 whp, 1400 kilos (tbc) = 385 bhp/ton

Class C: 200 - 300bhp per tonne
  • Mark Dawson - Corrado G60 - 310bhp, 279whp, 1090kg - 256bhp per tonne so Class C
    David Long - Caterham R400 - 207bhp, 179WHP, 650kg (est) - 275 bhp per tonne, Class C
    Craig Mc - Astra - 270whp, ~1100KG - 245bhp per tonne so Class C
    Dunk - Impreza 380bhp, ~320whp, 1300kg - 245bhp per tonne, Class C
Class D: < 200bhp per tonne
  • Mathew McBride - Impreza Classic - 300bhp, 225whp, 1320kg - 170bhp per tonne class D
    Morgan Gray - Clio 172- est 215bhp, 193whp, 1060kg - 182 bhp per tonne - class D
    Dave Bolton - ??? - 230WHP, 1290kg, ~180bhp per tonne
    Dave Herd - MKII Fiesta - 170 bhp flywheel, 150bhp wheels, 800kg, so 187.5 whp/ton class D
    Daniel Macdonald - Fiesta - 125whp, 850kg = 147 bhp per tonne, Class D
As you can see its bonkers cars in A, B v quick track with slower race/TA type cars, and C and D with the more normal stuff. I'd imagine most standard Elises would fit into D wouldnt they? I would guess at a low 60 being competative in D :)

Received a couple of e-mails from Stuart.

Hi tut

Hope you are well?

I write to let you of a new track drivers championship that is starting this year, aimed directly at owners of performance road and modified cars. It is Super Lap Scotland, an MSA permitted event that finds the fastest drivers in Scotland, on a power to weight class structure, in a track day format. Drivers will get three 20 minute sessions with official timing, with the fastest 5 from each class going to the single flying Super Lap at the end of the day. All that is required is a fast road / modified car, MSA approved helmet / suit / gloves and the MSA licence can be applied for on the day of an event. It’s a mid way between a normal track day format and racing. See these links for more info;

http://www.facebook.com/SuperlapScotland?ref=hl

http://www.superlapscotland.co.uk

I thought a number of your serious drivers might want to take part in a competitive event in their own car, without the rigours, admin and format of full blown racing. With the class structure on a power to weight format, it will allow a wide variety of cars to enter, but they will be equalized through their power to weight.

If you want to find out more, please do given me or Gemma a call. First events are on May 25th / 26th.

Regards

Stuart

Hi Stuart, been following it with interest since it was first proposed, and have kept up to date with Renny.

We posted the site up on S_E and there is already a lot of interest and quite a few will be signing up. However it unfortunately does not include me as I have a Honda engine. I would not have thought that it mattered as it is done on a power to weight ratio, and some of the cars in A and B will be very highly modified. Also with the Lotus range now and the S/C cars putting out up to 360hp, with a good driver they are now faster than me, especially the 2-11 which is designed as a track car, and will almost certainly win Class C comfortably.

Renny and I had a laugh, as if I was eligible, there is still no ruling that shoes have to be worn, so it would have been great to have a 73 year old, barefooted, disabled War Pensioner on the podium.

However it is going to go down well, and many of the Forums are covering it, so I expect that you are going to get more entries than you would have thought. Here is a link to our thread.

http://www.scottishelises.com/phpbb/vie ... =2&t=35514

You will see from the last post that Adam has put up a partial list, but this is just from his own Forum I think, and does not include S_E.

Will keep you updated.

Cheers

tut

Hi tut

Great, and thanks for the positive feedback. We are really hopeful that it will appeal to the serious track day drivers who what a bit more that a regular track day but don’t want to go door to door in a racing scenario. We are applying for a few exemptions with the MSA with our final regs, so it will be about a month before we can definitively now what is allow and what is not by way of more extreme mods.

Do keep in touch and we will keep you posted too. We are having an open forum / meet the organising team on the 24th of Feb (2.30pm – 4pm) at Knockhill where we will all be here (including Renny), if that could be circulated? There will future meets too, but best keep an eye on the SLS Facebook and websites.

Best regards

Stuart

PS re the exemptions with the MSA, don’t think we can swing the barefoot request!!

on that note, Tut.

Do you have a list of SE'ers that want to take part? I can add them to that list.

Quite a few interested Adam, but I thing that they want to see the full regs etc, before confirming.

It would seem that Stuart and Renny are trying to get the MSA to agree to a modified class to include change of engines.

I wouldn't be so sure, there is going to be some pretty handy machinery in class C and a 2-11 will be 260-270 BHP/ton with a 80-90kg driver if it is the full 260bhp at the flywheel. 40bhp is a lot to give away at KH.

Tut - Its not another 'class' as such, just either a couple of caveats to allow things that arent covered in Production or Modified in the regs (section S) OR the addition of Sports Libre to cater for the engine swapped and big winged (non homolgenated) cars. Cars would then still be split into their power to weight classes.

I have highlighted the potential for a sub 150bhp per ton class, but at the moment there doesnt seem to be much need for one.

Standard cars have no worries at all :)

So what would be the ultimate class D car?

And why is there not a budget class E?

So out of interest what is the benchmark lap for a 150 bhp ish Elise at kh ? Is it going to be a potential class D winner ?

If I map my Elise down to 240bhp it should give around 200 at the wheels. Car with me and a tank of fuel should be around the 1000kg mark hopefully. So would fit nicely in Class D.
