News Flash! New Lotus Service Centre Edinburgh - SLS
I don't think that brake fluid change is ever an automatic part of any service schedule - it's an extra that is recommended periodically, like coolant flush.
For track users, the brake fluid change normally happens more regularly. For road-only users, they could probably drive forever on any old murky fluid.
Cheers,
Robin

MMC phoned today to say my car is due an A service next month and would I like to book in. Ok I say how much? £365.00 for all parts and labour. Sorry I have to weld something
I asked if they picked up thar car, no, but I can have a courtesy Mazda, wow.
My X5 came from Grassicks BMW in Perth, they pick up the car leave something tasty, service & valet car and return same day. Cost c£140.00.
How do they justify £365.00 FFS for an oil change!

I know Formula 1 in Newcastle charge around £250 for an A service.Clarkie wrote:MMC phoned today to say my car is due an A service next month and would I like to book in. Ok I say how much? £365.00 for all parts and labour.

I didn't really want to reproduce the whole message. Anyone particularly concerned can always read it in the SE Dinosaurs archive though, and interpret for themselves too.Lawrence wrote:Interesting interpretation of the quote Campbell, I read it as protecting one's sister from dealer profits and not the independents who seldom have more than one fitter anyway.campbell wrote:How interestingly timed, just when independents employing "minimum wage fitters" were getting slammed on SE Dinosaurs.

An interesting point of view.FD wrote: 'fraid I wouldn't recommend any of them for a car of someone I know,
regardless of all the hype and BS you'll hear about how the sun shines
out of all their arses, I'm sure that won't be a popular comment but I
have the luxuary of being able to tell the truth from a position of
knowledge. Getting your car serviced by a bunch of minimum wage fitters
who are running a business to a budget is not the same as getting it
serviced by much vastly more talented and knowledgable people who
actually care.
If you have time to go to Newcastle you have time to get the car to me
and I'll deal with it properly.
Of course I am busy, so you will have to hassle me for a time slot, but
that's ok, YOU are allowed to.
