Really like the sinn 356 anybody know who stocks these as a quick search indicates order only. Would rather have a look first.

3 cracking looking suggestions for 1k.

Apols for putting you off with the roman numerals comment  .....so had a quick look for what I might go for per your remit.

A decent shout would be a Steinhart Nav B Chrono if still looking for a semi-dress type chrono. Costs about £700 with leather strap. Very similar to the classic IWC Flieger Spitfire Chrono.

There is a Sinn 356 at about £900. This is a sub 40mm crown so a touch smaller than the other two.

....or a Glycine Combat chrono if looking for something a bit more funky @ about £1100.

Keep in mind if you see a nice chrono with a bracelet you can always change the strap.

cheers.

A guy at work is looking at tag aquaracers as he has 1k budget and wants metal strap and non chrono.

I said, pfft, i will find you something else a bit better, but alas, i cant, i suggested a nice oris that he likes, but 44mm case and he hasnt tried one on yet.

Anyone got any recommendations? Can be quartz or auto, he isnt that fussed.

I thnk he likes seamasters, but overbudget and doesnt want 2nd hand, so something of that ilk.

Cheers.

Dave
A quartz Seamaster with black face could be haggled down to £900
Oris is also a good shout. :cheers

I've really wanted a vintage Heuer for some time (all the racers of the 60's / 70's wore Heuer Chrono's), and given I'll hit the grand old age of 35 in a few months, I decided that was reason enough to make a purchase... :P

Bought this last week...

It's a late 1960's Heuer - A slightly pikey (but rarer) version of the Carrera, with a chromed as opposed to stainless steel case, and a cheaper strap.

Other than that, it has the same movement (Valjoux 92), hands and face (minus the 'Carrera' script).

Will probably fit a Carrera strap (I have a contact for new old stock straps), and arrange for Heuerboy to service it at some point - But I'm quite chuffed with it, as is.

I can't be arsed with sending watch to Rolex, waiting for 4 months then getting a sore bum.

Thanks in advance.
I have read on other forums that Martin on Maryhill Road can help; probably best to call, I know Phil found him very helpful last few times he has been in.
How much a saving (in £££) can be made going this route?

My bro just got his Daytona serviced at Rolex thru J&C in ABZ and was £500ish, and took 4mths, I just got quoted not much less for my Navitimer

Surely a good opportunity for an S_E'r to set up a business servicing expensive watches.

£500? Four months?

OK, back into my hole.

Hence the reason I left my local Breitling dealer still wearing my watch Tut :D

Smacks of "taking the piss" in my (thrifty) book

My only issues are that she's running a little slow (3 secs/wk) which is only noticed when I return from a trip away and remove her from her winder.

Not enough to justify ~ 400 smackaroos :x
