I think you are hinting at a track bias / orientation.

At the time that I was in that mode, the Spax adjustables were just right for me. Albeit they are a fairly short lifespan damper so I'm not saying get those.

In which case, shell out on the Nitrons and be done with it. Just pick your spring rates carefully. Ask around for what other trackday sorts have gone for. And don't listen to McApe, he's a racer remember, and now he's into bikes so what does he know anyway ;-)

Mike, quite surprised that you heard from Leda as I thought that they had gone out of business some time ago, but maaybe they had just stopped producing the shocks.

Tut, someone else took over the servicing (I think it may have actually been GAZ) and then started producing under the Leda name again.

Mike - when you say Normal Nitrons, the only spec to consider is goign to Hofmans and asking for a set to be made up. No more expensive than buying them with standard valving from Nitron IIRC. I have factory Nitrons, and while they are fantastic, the Hofmans damper/spring setup is a step ahead again - but no more expensive. No brainer.

If you have the cash to splash - that's the choice to make. At the end of the day though, it'll still be a multiple of what you'll spend getting the Ledas rebuilt.

Mike - you could see if you can persuade Robin to sell you his S1 suspension.

2 way adjustable and bound to be cheaper

Reasonable compromises come to those who wait:

I've been keeping my eye on these as I'm not entirely happy with my S2 LSS, pretty much for the reason's McKeanno has posted, and I've a long list of things to spent £1.5k on before a set of Hoffman spec Nitron's.

Very good value for money but the road-orientation surely means no better than your S2 LSS?

Would these not have similar problems as the LSS being road biased "Far too softly sprung, i think you'll be on the bump stops all the time"?

The S2 LSS isn't particuarly road biased in that it has very harsh damping. These Nitrons have 2.25" Dia. Springs unlike the Lotus Bilsteins, so the springs can be swapped out for ones a more appropriate rate. I'd doubt you'll be able to go as high a rate as normal Nitrons, but the damping should still be more suited to the car.

I'm sure I read that the new nitrons are perhaps maybe at a guess coming out sometime next month.

Have Nitron not released a cheaper damper before, was it Reds? Sure Noops ran them?
