There have been a few times in the last couple of weeks that its been sub-zero on the way to work and I am kind of torn as to when to get them on the car - any one else considering putting theirs on soon?
Its funny because in previous years I have not bothered with winters at all, but now I cant really see the point in not using them!
I have gone down a couple of inches in the rim and gone up a few sizes on the tyre, so it should keep the wheels curb free and provide plenty of winter grip!
Planning to get mine on the ST in the next few weeks. I reckon when the temp is mostly below around 7 deg C it's time to change - which it will be soon during my commutes.
For a second set of wheels for the ST, the same alloys are big money, so I am going to investigate what alternative wheels will fit (and clear the brakes). This may require me to venture onto a ST forum.... gulp...

I changed the cayenne and evoque to winters at the weekend. I have ended up doing this in the dark when it's snowing, so have learned my lesson.
The cayenne is the first car I've ever checked the handbook before changing a wheel. Just as well I did, as you are supposed to switch off the air suspension and it tells you about a handy alignment peg you screw in to help with wheel fitting - this simple little gadget made a big difference given the size and weight. I don't know why the suspension had to be off - maybe just a precaution.

These allegedly fit the ST (I'd double check, though!) - Bit ugly, but should be cheap, and there's always black plasti dip

I have been keeping an eye on the temp lately too, my commutes rarely see much more than 8-10 now

I just picked up a full set of Audi 16" wheels (with good summer tyres) for £20. Will probably use 3 of them as spares as is. As I have 3 cars shod with snow tyres on the same rims.
