Tango @ Donnie

Had a great Donnie weekend. It is a superb track to race on! One thing I did promise myself was not to try and overtake on the Craner Curves.

Thanks to doing the TD on the Friday I was fairly happy with the car. Only slight concern was the fading brakes in 15min stints a bit of a worry with 2 20 min races to come! Managed a half decent lap on my 2nd lap in qualifying from then on yellow flags etc meant I would not beat it.

1st race was a lot of fun ended up in a bit of a battle with the black Exige of Anthony Clark no. 22. Anthony got passed me at some point in the first couple of laps (bit of a blur). We stayed like that for a couple of laps until the track seemed to get a bit greasy Anthony eased off a little and I was able to get down the inside of the first corner but comprising my exit speed by the time we got to the top of the cranes we were level. Yes, I ended up do exactly what I said I was not going to do… For the second curve I took a lot of curb and grass ending up in front. Unfortunately it would be short lived as I found myself offline with dirty tyres for the old hairpin and a second later after what felt like a massive drift at 90mph I had completed a beautiful 720 across the grass joining the track just under the bridge. Next lap came around and it looked like compete carnage with Loti all over the shop! Safety car came out and I was left to wonder what could have been before I arsed-up the old hairpin.

Thanks to the safety car I had not had too bad a time of it with the brakes but the 2nd race would be a bit more entertaining!

Race 2 was a tough one I had to nurse the brakes all the way through so found I had to work extra hard down the craners and up the hill to keep my lap time half decent. Seemed like everyone had had their Weetabix as there were some epic battles going on throughout the grid with three-a-breast and sometimes four-a-breast in the corners and straights which did make for some plain scary moments. It must have made for a truly amazing spectacle and the fact that there was so little damage speaks wonders for everyone racing.

Many thanks to Dan and Luke for coming along for the weekend I think the reliability record speaks for its self, 6 starts 6 finishes. 8)

Good point Jamie - compared to the utter gayness of the Porsche Cup, which was dull as f***, LOTRDC was a totally different spectacle.

Skegsy cheered my up for congratulating me for making 3 passes at the old hairpin - a few comments were made about that - along the lines of we didn't think anyone was mad enough to pass there!

Really appreciated you taking time out to walk the circuit and talk me through it - cheers bud :thumbsup
