USSR will no doubt be in it soon.
PS I reckon he could take Brown and Bush at the same time @ ROman Grecko.

Most of the ex soviet bloc countries are.
Seems bizarre - are they allowed to play because they don't have any friends locally?

Israel, England and Russia are on the same continental mass, though commonly Israel is in Asia and England is in Europe. Lots of the old Soviet Union is in Europe, though lots of the countries are in both.
The more the merrier I say ...

but surely (when it comes to football) they should be in the same groups as their neighbours.
Considering sport is "supposed" to transcende political differences it does seem more than a little contrieved.

(PS: I freely admit that if they stuff England this afternoon then I wouldn't be bothered which contient they are on

)

I hadn't realised it was the world cup - thought it was the euro competition - you're bang on - all of Israel's neighbours (well those that are in the competition) are in the Asian zone.
I guess nobody had the stomach for Israel vs Palestine or Iraq
Cheers,
Robin

There are also Israeli club teams in the European football competitions all rather odd.

It is the euro cup - but none of their neighbours are in that either.
