Caterham???
I've just been offered the chance to get a caterham 7 academy, has anyone tried one of these and is there anything to look out for?
Thanks
Thanks

Thanks Lawrence, are these chassis easy to upgrade? My OMS is ready to go for the Hillclimbs so the caterham isn't really for competition use, BUT, I do fancy something a little more exciting than my sports tourer. Is the much of a difference between the two cars? TaLawrence wrote:You really need a "Roadsport A" Richard
The academy car is very basic
FD's Roadsport A may be available
The main differences are that the RSA has
Dry sump
6 speed gearbox
LSD
150 bhp ( not 115)
with solid lifters
Wide track suspension
better spec dampers
to look at they are otherwise identical

If it's for the road then an Elise wins every time. I would expect an academy car to have similar performance to a standard Elise but far less practical. it's a nice wee car for someone that hasn't driven anything fast.

I've written the advert . . . the last run up Doune makes me want to keep it and do it again and again . . . but perhaps time to move on to something offering different challenges . . . with one seat . . . and wings designed to stop it flying . . .
