Had the hard top on for a while now but was starting to squeek, so took it off and just put the soft top on to save time.

So last night on the way home, it was cold and dark, got off the motorway and parked in the layby.

Got the fleece, ski jacket and wooly hat on and took the roof off.

It was great, I've never driven in the dark without the roof on in the 18months of Lotus ownership.

Another new experience from Lotus.
Will be repeating it soon.

Wife thinks im bonkers.

I drove from Aberdeen to Fort William for the Mountain Bike World Championships at the beginning of September with the roof off. It was dark most of the way there and it was just an awesome drive.

It was a really wierd sensation as I passed Anoch Mhor because I could see the lights from the event against the low cloud.

Before I had this car I always thought that people that drove with their tops down in the cold or dark were just w@nk3rs. Now I'm one of them.

Wait till a real clear starry night and get out of town: it's the mutts

What's a heater?!

My rule is -

Weekday commute = hardtop.

Weekend = soft top (if it's dry, day or night, then the roof stays off

I can relate to that

I remember of one trip my car gradually filling up with snow each time a lorry went by and caught the drift in the centre of the road, eh Campbell !!!

Best night time drives used to be on our New Year's eve drives around the local area and into Glagow.
Roof off let you see the fireworks easily
Loads of atmosphere and banter through the city centre streets.
Even had one guy in an electric wheel chair wanting to race me away from traffic lights

I drove all the way to Aberdeen and back yesterday with the roof in the boot. Fecking freezing at first, but the heaters are ace. I am buying leather gloves and scarf later today, alread have the jacket and hat.

I never ever use the roof when driving unless it's seriously p1ssing down, and I mean NEVER.

my most memorable drive had to be coming back down from ABZ having been on a my first run with the other half in the car, and she loved it!

It was just turning dark, lights just switched on, had pulled over about 10 miles before to get layered up with clothes and hats, and find the CD's and off we went.

Ended up going home via Cairn o' Mount, having passed Balmoral some time before singing 'I've got soul but i'm not a soldier' by the killers, full volume!!!

Ah roll on March and more open top motoring!

can't beat topless.. in the winter, heated seats on.. wind in the air.. driving a night with shades on is also strangely, and deviantly, enjoyable.

Once drove down from Perth (-11f) - front screen froze over so had to sit up and look over roof rail.. also marked by the first sighting of the Macca Merc - Jan05 I think it was - i.e. it was the press hack not the official release.. awesome.
