Appears to be the case. I heard the women at work last week talking about it. I think one managed to order one from Game or somewhere. I had a look online for them at all my usual haunts, but there appear to be none available.
Not sure if there is a problem in the manufacture or just demand outstripping supply.

Try gamestation Ross, they always had loads in stock last year when everywhere else was saying they would be weeks on order.

You are not the only one after a Wii (I got mine a couple of months ago).. there is indeed a bit of a shortage v demand situation.

If you look at amazon.co.uk there are some available but at a premium.

Another place to look at online anyway is

I managed to get two from Argos on-line earlier this year.

Had to visit two local stores and got one from each (I got one at the same time as my niece)

Also spent quite some time trying most of the usual places earlier in the year for another SE'rs without success.

Unless you get one in the next week or two, expect to be looking at ebay and crazy money for one. The Nintendo DS is the same every year, as are all the popular versions of Nintendogs for it.

The Wii has sold out all 12m of its stocks within days of hitting the shelves. Good luck finding one! I played Zelda on mine all last xmas and loved it. Wii Sports is fantastic when you've got friends round. :D

And now I (err I mean the kids) are getting a Wii from Santa, any recommendations for car games?

All I can see in the Argos catalogue (classy, I know) are Need For Speed: ProStreet and GT Pro Series (not sure if this one's Grand Turismo tho :? )

Oh, and I don't want to start a console fanboy war, there are other forums for that....BUT

Don't buy a Wii for mainstream games, for example, Fifa or Burnout etc. The Wii is fantastic, and I love it - but stick with Nintendo only titles or game which needs the motion control. I use my 360 for the mainstream games, hi def visuals and quality sound to boot.

I'm now having a Noops moment

Don't sink me with technobabble, dude

All I want is a car game which is fun more than anything else - not looking for super-sophisticated stuff - Super MarioKart on the DS is along the lines of what I'm talkin' aboot
