Anyone here driven right the way around Loch Ness? If so, what's it like? I cycled it in roughly 12 hours a few years back, had a great time. Would love to revisit but this time in the comfort of the Elise.

Going to try and pop up in the next week or two, grab a meal / B & B, then head home in the morning.

i'm from Inverness and i can't say i rate the roads around Loch Ness too highly as they are usually full of tourists.

Plenty of cracking roads a wee bit further away that are empty most of the year. Kenny usually has some good suggestions from his buzzing about in a jap box days :D

EDIT : Although i do fondly remember the Dores road where i used to try to "get air" in my mums Fiat Tipo

the South side is brilliant as long as there's no tourists around tight and twisty- enjoyable in any small good handling car.
North side is a main road.

The A82 has some great sections but absolutely mobbed all year round.

A better loop would be the south road and round via Lecht, Aviemore area B-roads.

or A82 to Drumnadrochit, turning onto A831 round by Cannich and onto Beauly and back via the west coast route.

Agree - I find the A82 frustrating - the east side is nice in the dry, but I'll be a nightmare with leaves and snow and all that sh*t at this time or f year

go with the other guys ideas

Yup have to agree its very busy. I've only done it a couple of times and thought the road was superb, views etc just spoilt by caravans, slow tourists etc. Ok if you wanna doddle along and just enjoy the drive and views.
Jumped on the R1 and was amazing as you could overtake and free up the road with ease. Nice fast trip round with ease. Definately a bike road, the Lotus is just penned in to much with few overtaking oppertunities.
