visit to Murrays

Post by DJ » Mon Dec 10, 2007 6:10 pm

Took a run through to MMC this afternoon to price a few parts as I had a day off, rather than phone. A couple of interesting things in the showroom and had a chat with Ian who helps Graeme.

Firstly a 240 Exige in the new pearlescant Isotope Green which they only got in on Saturday. Apparently 3 were destined for Scotland but this is the only one now coming to the showroom. Looked like the colour of Gareth's Caterham with almost everything colour coded, including the supports for the rear spolier which are normally black. Kinda hits you as soon as you go in. If you thought Chrome Orange was loud.... Not sure I could spend £43k on a luminous car.. :?

A Club Racer sitting there too. Likely to be the last one they'll get Ian said having sold 3 already. Definately looks better in the flesh...

Finally they are hoping to get their SC Elise in about a week or so. A white one is heading their way and they plan to powdercoat those horrible new style alloys black as soon as they get it, which sounds a good shout to me.

Oh.... and has anyone on here recently traded in an ardent S2 '03 111s for a blue Exige? Was having a listen to the aftermarket exhaust it had fitted. Sounded  8) and the sort of thing I'm after. Would like to know manufacturer.

Derek called me about the Isotope Exige....sounds lovely but £43K...don't think I would buy that if I had the cash.

Good to see MMC keeping up the "first of " and "last of" etc. teasers :

First Isotope Green 240 Exige in Scotland

Last club racer in Scotland

First/only white Elise SC with black wheels in Scotland

Will I be the first short arse slightly ginger NE man to test drive the SC ? I guess I will :P (unless you know otherwise)

I don't care if your fat, ginger short, pikey or english - you're both lucky barstewards!

Having said that, I'd take a shot of the tutmobile over any new elise or exige - that's a properly fast car :D

I know Andrew is due to take a test drive soon and as far I know, he has bought one and due to take delivery early next year. I think he will be the first owner in Scotland. Unless, someone knows otherwise. He may post here shortly. If not I am seeing him at the weekend.

I was in on Saturday to see the exige as im am very close to ordering a SC elise in Isotope Green - think it will be the mutts

Just need to find £36K

As Del said I think Andrew Laing is the only one who has ordered a SC Elise so far - I think he is going for Silver - bit too sedate for me

He's already been down to the factory for a test drive. Said it was a smoother delivery than the S/C Exige. Loved it but they're having some problems with it and couldn't confirm a delivery date (that was as at the 1st Dec).

Joking aside, I'd be interested to hear more from Andrew on his test drive and the problems they seem to be having. I haven't driven a S/C Exige therefore wouldn't be able to compare the two however I'm really only interested in a direct comparison with the 111R. I just find the lack of torque low down a bit of a pain sometimes and will only be considering a S/C Elise if it significantly better in this respect. I love the 111R 85% of the time but the extra torque would hopefully make up the remainder.
