Hello all,

I haven't moved my car in about a week.
I left it sitting with the handbrake off but am pretty sure that the brakes are going to be locked on when I go to move it tomorrow...

Any tips for getting the brakes of when I get in it tomorrow.
In my old Beetle I just rocked it back and forward a little in first then reverse until they released... should I adopt the same strategy with the Liz?

be carefull... That's what I did all the time during 7 years of Loti ownership (i.e. moving the car back and forth using 1st and reverse gears).. but it cost me last week.. Had the same problem with the Exige and ended up breaking one of the brake pads in the process.. sounds odd, but it happened anyway.

get the kettle and pour luke warm water on the discs will soften any surface rust and melt any ice, thats what i would do if i could be bothered.

Usually just give it the full beans and ping the clutch although the last time i did it i drove the lenght of the street with front breaks locked and mountains of smoke behind me and it was about midnight neighbours we not happy!!!

As the others have said rocking it should do it ,but not always. The new compounds being used for the pads and discs can cause the pads (especially the front) to really bond with the discs.

Having got caught out in the snow on Sutra a couple of weeks ago left the car for a week as busy at work. When came to move it brakes locked on. Rocking it wouldn't do a thing and in the end had to get Ali to come over and sort it. Wheels off, hit the cr@p out of it with a hammer type of procedure.

I just drive leaving trenches in the stones and rubber on the road untill they free up.
Ps dont use the handbrake if parking for a long time
