Guys my sister is just about to buy a Daihatsu Fourtrack for towing her horses with. Has anyone had one before? Are they any good and anything to look out for? Any help would be good.
Cheers

I know nothing about them other than that having lived in the countryside for a long time farmers round our bit either have these or defenders. And they are always filthy so must be good

One of my OIM's had one. Never had any problems with it and he had a big horsebox on the back regularly.

seen them alot on police camera action, they all seem to get stolen by pikeys and have trackers fitted kinda cool watching the plods drive into a pikey camp straight to the stolen fourtrack that has 3 or 4 pikeys standing nearby who "seen nothing" even though it has a new set of plates and a cordless drill sitting on the spare tyre
oh heard they are pretty good, but u really want a defender as they can have treadplate bolted on them and look really cool

I remember having one way back in the eighties, and it was a great truck, good alternative to a Land Rover in those days. Towed a double Rice horse trailer without any problems, and was very agile across country.
Bit agricultural by todays standards, but a good workhorse!!

Parents have one and it is even more vague to drive then a defender if that is possible
But they appear to be pretty bullet proof as the 2.8 engine is pretty popular to get stuck in older landrovers. As with all 4x4 that never get the 4x4 stuff used check that everything engages and disengages but don't drive too far with the 4x4 in as there is no centre diff so you get lots of transmission windup
They are pretty terrible offroad as the independant front suspension has bugger all travel but as a tow truck they are fine.
The other thing is dependant on your sisters age she might have to watch her licence lets her tow big trailers
As to the horses i hope they are going in a horse box or they might get tired running behind it

She is 23 and passed her trailer test.
As to the horses they have to pull the fourtrack
And thanks for the info
