It is a great price but I wouldn't fancy driving one....

I can't imagine "crumple zone" is anything they have heard of...

You'd be safer going down the motorway in a shopping trolly...

Prob quicker, better handling and more comforatble too!

You bunch of snobs

Have i stumbled into a BMW forum filled with lard worshipers?

yes it is cheap but it is also clever and light as far as i can remember clever and light is what Lotus used to stand for

Its got zero frills like electric windows and other essential garbage that is not needed on a car

RWD no power steering tiny little wheels etc

The engine is a 2 cylinder modern fuel injected petrol that passes EU4 emission standards and will probably do stupid to the gallon.

I'd rather have one of those then one of the nasty heavy complicated computer ruled hybrids that they are trying to say is the future of motoring

If it was some shoddy knockoff of an old rover that india used to specialise in then it would be worthy of a ribbing but a light clever car like that should be applauded

I have had the very scary experience of being driven (slowly) in a chevy (AKA Daewoo) matiz. The thought of being hit by any thing was quite terrifying. Can't help but think that would be similar. Looks like it's handling would be unsafe too, with the tall body on tiny wheels. IMHO.

I love the concept of a small, light weight, cheap car. I would love to see something along the lines of the orginal mini again,... and would prob have one if they made it.

If it was styled more like a smart, then I think it would be getting applauded more in this region... but as far as I'm aware it has been aimed at the home market, and styling is a subjective matter (just one look at my yankee brother when he comes home to visit is enough proof.. check the clothes)...

Styling aside, I'd say it's a bold step in the right direction (ie, backwards)..

Single mark race series anyone?

They might need roll cages and pepping up a bit....

They compared India to the USA.

I think that it is 1% of the India population that own a car, and the average number of cars per household in the USA is three.

Also - with India being a hindu country then crumble zones aren't important. When it's your time to go then nothing will stop it - so why need crumple zones?

Gandhi would be proud.

In all fairness, in a country full of skint people £1500 is quite expensive. It would be like a Rolls Royce to them :? I think its good Tata is making a cheap car for the people.

the city rover was cheap crap but rover tried to sell it as a decent car for decent car money if they had tried to flog it for £4K they would have sold more and maybe made money.

Agree with thinfourth, plus as also said, India is a HUGELY untapped market - bring motoring to the masses

I'll bet if they ever sold it in UK, and the price even doubled to pay for taxes, type approval, & taxes, it'd sell like cakes which are extremely hot :D

Not gonna get into Darwinism chat, but perhaps if our cars seemed a little less safe, the standards of driving would increase?

/controversial?

Fact is, if it's reliable and cheap to own, fix and maintain, it deserves to do very, very well.

I'm thinking original Mini (1950s design, but laid the template for almost every mainstream car on the road) verses the new 'Mini', which is too big, overweight, over complicated and has nothing to do with the original concept of the car.

Guess which one I think is the more important and worthwhile car? (which I still wouldn't want to be in a crash with)
