Any idea who they use to fix the car (Body and Paint work) after they buy it back? Obviously whoever it is will have some succsess of mxing Chrome Orange which seems to scare most bodyshops...

Anyone know?

not 100% sure TBH, but they do have the JM accident repair centre at wallyford. As its in the same group, they might well go there.

See the earlier thread with regards to the supercharged Elise. The front clam is kerbed under the number platye area, and has a few scratches from the Knockhill fence incident 8)

Yep, pretty sure it is Wallyford. When I was last in at MMC and was looking at their used Loti I am sure they said most traded in Elises go to Wallyford to get their fronts re-sprayed.

I remember my old Nova SR going to Wallyford yonks ago after being on the receiving end of a minor rear end shunt. Looked OK when I went to pick it up as I approached it from the back, then went round the side and the tailgate was like a banana on one side. I could literally slide my whole hand in between the tailgate and body.

Paintwork was fine IIRC. Was a long time ago though.

I went to him a long time ago, just after I first kerbed it. He seemed scared by the colour, put me off.

What's up with Wallyford? Waiting on a quote. I would have thought due to them being the "default" Lotus accident repair group around here that they would have more experience of our plastic cars and paint colours than anyone else??

Unfortunately, that doesn't mean they've learned anything about how to do the job properly. I've genuinely lost count of the amount of times over the last six years that people have posted up about the car being in Wallyford, then the horror at the result and the subsequent months of back-and-forth to get a job that's passable.

Worth pointing out that their bread-and-butter is normal steel cars (they cover all the JM Group garages, who sell most brands) Fibreglass requires a different technique and skill to painting a steel car.

I don't often say flat out that you SHOULD NOT do something with no caveats, but in this case, you would be mad to send the car there.

Likewise with my old S1.... frickin' nightmare. On my list of "people to destroy with fire when I rule the world".
