Might be worth reading this post Sam :

The general consensus seems to be that you will probably be wasting your money if you buy one, although everyone has different circumstances of course. I know that mine was removed the day I arrived home with my car and it won't go back on it until the day I sell it. Different if you have to park it outside on a busy street though, I could see a use for it then.

Ifins the window seals well round the softop on the 111R (better than my last S1) but would you get an even better seal with the hardtop?

seems to be some people these are great for and others that aren't so lucky.

I borrowed an Elise from MMC for a few days and there wasn't any problems with leaks but the passenger side window made a god awful noise as it reached the hardtop! I'd've been concerned, if it were mine but.........

I had a red, blue and silver Elise and they all p!shed water with the hardtop on...!

Lot better seal on the soft top IMHO... Therefore sold the hardtop in all three cases.

Also noticed (on the 3 I have had anyway) the seal on the soft top is longer than the seal on the hard top so it leaks less at the corners.

That said - have an Exige now and doesn't leak one single bit.

Had an Elise with soft top for a year and no leaks. Had Exige with hard top for 6 months and leaked constantly. All sorted now with replacement hard top and some bespoke fixes from a Lotus engineer. Think it's now a known design flaw in the newer Exige roofs, so maybe the Elise roofs are okay, but I'd generally say a soft top gets a much better seal than a hard top due to the tension when fitting it.

OK guys I have the offer of a hardtop from a fellow member but before I commit to buy I would like to see a pic of an Elise (S2) with the hardtop on, and in red so I know exactly what my own will look like.
Any help would be great...
