Boyracers - M8 lastnight

Guys have you ever had any problems with boy racers?

I was driving back from St. Andrews to Glasgow on the M8 last night and these 5 boy racers appeared behind me and proceeded to boxed me in. Totally idiots.

One pulled in front of me - one blocked me from the right hand side and about 3 of them came up behind me flashing their lights... Stupidly i didn't take down any of their number plates. The one in front was an old suped up corsa, the one to the right was a blue fiat punto (with this daft spoiler and blacked out windows) and the others I couldn't see because it was dark..

I had noticed them earlier when i over took them.. they were flashing at some other car, so i can only presume they were doing the same to some other poor person before they saw me drive past and decided to do the same to me.

The kept me there for about 10 mintues before taking off...... freaked me out!

Anyone had this before???

:-(

Poor you  What a set of dandies!

We had a lot of people trying to undertake in traffic to get a better glimpse of the Atom, but that was as bad as it got.

Shame you didn't get any plates - wankers -

Pleased your ok & Happy Birthday x

w*nkers! maybe worth reporting it to the police the M8 has plenty of camera's on it and there is a good chance they have something.

Never happened to me but that is horrible. What is their point? What is the world coming to ???????

Glad nothing else happened and you were ok though.

You could contact the local police as others might have reported them.

Not 999, as it's not an ongoing emergency. If you had hands-free then 999 at the time would have been the thing... What bit of the M8 was it? I dunno where the different forces cover, but someone will be along in a minute with that info I'm sure...

Hellish situation though. I'd have rammed the bugger in front of me (as I've already got a buggered front clam) Little sh*tes - hope they end up in a smouldering wreck...

I think it was on the stretch around Harthill services... I just wish I had got their registrations...!!! :x

I put money on it that they do this a lot... they definitely seemed to know what they were doing... but what worries me is that they have complete control over you when you're boxed in like that... If only i hadn't had my clam repaired - i'd have definitely done the arse corse in front of me some damage!!!!!!

I'd contact the police. as others have said, I may have tried a little brake testing but then my back clam needs fixed anyway, oh and the front one too!

local police station should be fine, they all play for the same team. remember to play on the "woman alone, vulnarable afraid" it shouldn't make any difference but it might just.

Most police forces have a none emergency switchboard number, they will be able to help.

Even if they don't actually help you it might help them ID them next time, link them to an existing complaint or add to an existing case.

Not plesant.

As to what they were tryin to achieve I bet if you got hold of them and asked they would not know

They need assisting down some stairs a few times...

Report them as not having road tax or parking illegally, the tax and parking Nazis are better resourced...

In these situations, as much as you may want to smash into them, the consequence could be catastrophic. So I think its safer to just ignore any temptation and wait for them to get bored and leave.

Not being chicken but sensible. Why should you lower yourself to their level anyway?

Well I reported them... (just called the local police). They took all the details down, but said nothing else had been reported.

They said they're going to contact the traffic department to see if they have any cameras in the area...

I did try the breaking technique and it was just after that they gave up and left.

ps - the cops said in future use my phone! Woohoo!

Brigita,

I will mention it to my neighbour when I see him next as he is a traffic policeman with Lothian & Borders (although I suspect Harthill will come under Strathclyde) just in case they have had an incidents similar in/around Edinburgh.

Pretty damn scary, hope they get caught.

Cheers
