At Gairloch yesterday petrol was 118.9 and diesel was 128.9

I remember back in the days living in London with the original fuel fuel protests. Take a look here and the prices of fuel that caused the protests by truckers etc.

TBH I am with Noops now and enough is enough, some tin pot poll I read that ppl will not stop paying for petrol and use the bus until it hits 180 for petrol. Fark knows what derv will be.

Surprised there has not been a revolt in the car clubs for a go slow or pump blockade, I guess it is because car club members are generally more affluent and while they might not want to can afford to pay.

I reckon the British public will keep paying no matter what it goes to because that's what we do and the government knows it (are you or I going to stop fuelling our vehicles? - I live in the sticks with no bus route.. and no, I won't be moving house). I think as a nation we enjoy being bent over and getting it.

If this was the US, Bush would be getting lynched on the White House front lawn as we speak.

Idea
To be able to do anything about it, you need numbers and that requires allot of organization, for one person to do something that will cause the government to take notice requires extreme measures and if you do that you will be caught & go to jail and you will be easily portrayed as a nut. If 100 people do something it can be a little less extreme but again you can easily pushed to the side. Remember the last fuel protest? Nothing much happened as they didn't have the numbers. The original fuel protest worked because of weight of numbers and universal public support. But long term it has got us nowhere.

Democracy doesn't work either if you vote out A.Politician, B.Politician just does the same thing. We are stuck, the public are impotent regards politics we hate them all, they are all as bad as each other and that allows them to do pretty much what they like when in power.

So what to do ?
Protest ? - unfortunately all the people who care about this have jobs to do.
Riot? - could be fun but as with protesting we all have jobs etc so allot to lose.
Destruction of the UK political system ? - hmm would be amazing to pull off and I like Montgomery Brewster’s method "Non of the above" let’s face it those in power are all a shower of b'stards but everyone has different political views so why not spoil your ballot paper at the next election, thus removing politicians right to govern if you can get high turnout high but votes really small it will cause problems, plus you can use this approach with everything to rope in even more people. only thing is it needs people and lots of them.

FIVE environmental campaigners dressed as clowns were due in court today after being arrested during a protest at a city petrol station.

The members of the Edinburgh Clown Army were detained yesterday afternoon at a biofuels protest in Bruntsfield and have since been charged with a breach of the peace.

The demonstration, which was part of the nationwide "April Bio-Fools Day" campaign, involved around 30 people outside the BP petrol station at Bruntsfield Links.

Eye-witnesses described the demonstration as having a "peaceful, friendly and party-like atmosphere".

The protesters object to UK legislation that requires fuel suppliers to blend 2.5 per cent biofuel into their petrol and diesel, as they claim this will cause environmental damage that may lead to a humanitarian crisis.

FIVE biofuels campaigners, arrested during a demonstration outside a BP filling station in Edinburgh, have appeared in court charged with breach of the peace.

The charges allege that, while dressed as clowns, they acted in a disorderly manner outside the BP service station in Barclay Place, Bruntsfield, on Tuesday.

The charges further allege that they milled around, accosting and annoying customers, and preventing them from transacting their legitimate business.

What I cant understand is the difference between petrol and Derv. Now it it knocking on for 10p a litre dearer for derv, when only a few weeks ago it was 4p dearer?

From the articles in todays paper, and Mcapes post last week, it may be soon that we will have no fuel in Scotland after next Friday anyway...................

My plant is starting to shut down tonight Its really happening. There were massive cues at the petrol station when i passed today.

What I find really odd is the fact that last year when the prices hit 90p a litre, the Truck drivers went mad and did the rolling road blocks etc... which kept the prices steady for a wee while, this time there has been nothing from them at all.

Soes anyone else find this strange?

I just wonder if the truck companies are getting some kind of tax reductions from the government which is keeping them quiet!!!

Either way the price of fuel is a goddam disgrace.

I had thought this also Mandy , something is very very odd.....

Or maybe at the last "protest" by the truck companies nobody turned up and now they've just thought "fook it !!"
