Not sure what spec to be honest, was hoping you lot could enlighten me as to what would be best to go for.
Handling is more important than speed, acceleration comes close second.
Not looking for a track car, just one to pose in :P

Ideally low mileage and good nick.

Soft or hard top, not fussed.

Not particularly fussed about colour, have my preferences like anyone else.

I need advice more than anything, give me a shout please!

Cheers
Lewis

Im going to have a look at it on saturday.
Ill have to see the bank before i go anywhere though as ive not got it all sitting just now.
Few months should comver it if i was to go it alone but not sure if i can wait that long :P
Any advice on suspension spec etc? nizzy suggested s2 susp would be better.
Advice on anything else like engines etc would be crackin

If you want to pose an S1 Exige will do your tits in; its shocking to drive through town given that the engine kangaroos at anything below 2.5k rpm.

All the posers buy s2 exiges and polish them :thumbsup (been there done that  )

See this is the kind of stuff i need to hear :D

Are all K series engines like this or can it be rectified by a milder choice of cam etc etc?

Compared to the K are the toyota engines reliable and useable enough to justify the price difference?

I dont care about the price of fuel and economy of the engine, i wont be driving all that much (i keep telling myself anyway)
Maybe up to 3/4k a year.

Another question i had was weight difference between s1/s2 elise and exige.

jj what do you have now?

craig and stuart mind if i give you a shout when i get back to have a look round your cars?

Very High Performance Design?????

What you are going to use the car for determines what car you buy.

S1 elise - may need more looking after than S2, less refined, but less prone to understeer.....the original
S1 exige - as above but faster and more mental looking.
S2 (rover) - more refined, a bit softer but less likely to break.
S2 (toyota) - even more refined and faster still (also has ABS)....but has to be revved to get the best of it.
S2 exige - as S2 (toyota) but more track focused with different suspension and semi slick tyres.......
S2 exige (with s/c) - as above but more useable on the road due to lower cam change and more torque from s/c.....won't find one for £20k.
340r - best of the lot....but if it goes wrong whole body has to come off.....may be a money pit......I WANT ONE!

HTH ...... all IMHO.

:welcome

Best advice i can give is to turn up to a meet, say hello, shake lots of hands and get pax rides in all manner of cars - you'll soon understand the differences in character between them.

If you take a recent dukes pass run for example, we had
- s1 elise
- s1 elise S160
- s1 exige
- s2 elise (rover)
- s2 111s (rover)
- s2 111r (toyota)
- s2 111s (toyota)
- s2 Exige (toyota)

........and a couple of vauxhalls ! Beats any car showroom :D

Power 190+ps @7500rpm Torque 151lb.ft @ 6250rpm The 1.8i performance VHPD engine is now very well known. It is used in both road and race applications in many of today's highly desirable sports cars. Lotus Exige, 340R, Caterham superlight and the Westfield FW400 to name four. A very close relationship was used by Rover in their highly successful MGF cup single make race series. The engine is available as a fully built road or race specification with the options of either a hot test or fully run and rated with performance curve supplied for an additional cost. The 2001 model year VHPD now incorporates the newly developed PTP multi throttle inlet manifold with EFI ECU and unique PTP tune, giving an improved mid range torque and lifting the performance well over 190Ps when used in conjunction with optimised intake and exhaust systems. Key elements of the 190ps VHPD engine are. * Motorsport big valve cylinder head. * Mechanical valve gear. * Uprated valve springs * Uprated forged pistons. * Uprated forged conrods. * Uprated forged crankshaft. * Stainless steel inlet and exhaust valves. * Rev limit set at 7800rpm. * EFI ECU with unique PTP 190 tune. For customers wishing to upgrade their VHPD engine to 2001 model year spec, the EFI ECU and PTP multi throttle inlet manifold can be purchased seperately, please contact us for further details. SVA emission compliancy can be achieved but is vehicle application dependent, please contact us for further details. * 100kg DRY WEIGHT * INCORPORATING UNIQUE RACING COMPONENTS * IN-LINE OR TRANSVERSE INSTALLATION * POWERING TWO ONE MAKE RACE SERIES IN 1998 * SUPPLIED TO THREE OE MANUFACTURERS All performance figure's achieved by dynometer test results at the flywheel with optimised intake and exhaust.
