Have a look here Paul
Cars for sale
There was a cracking Roadsport A for sale over on SE1 just recently at £9.5K, didn't last long
Fergus has a Roadsport A and is seriously considering a go this year

reading those regulations, i dont think i will. They dont allow different engines other than those built or supplied by the manufacturer.
wonder if they take bribes

Everyone here should know Colin Chapman's quote on regulations
There are IMHO 5 skills required to win
1/ the ability to drive the car faster than it wants to go
2/ the ability to set the car up
3/ the ability to use the regulations
4/ the ability to learn from one's mistakes
5/ the ability to find the money
Neil you have 2 or 3 of these qualities, so I'll state Class A is for your car, unless of course you already have that ability and are just ducking out

i was kind of hoping class C, as that uses road tyres. Class A would require slicks.
Not afraid of a challenge, although dont want to race in a class where every other car is 5 seconds a lap faster. What other cars would you expect to enter class A????
I wont ask which 2 or 3 skills you think i have

I had a quick look at class c too. But the std Elise would be way down on power as there isn't any real engine mod restrictions. Plus i'd have to fit harnesses, cut off switch, plumbed in fire extinguisher, remove seats, lose some weight off it etc. If i fitted all those bits, it'd still be slow compared to the proper race cars, and i'd then never be able to sell it as a nice looking road car.
Wanna use the car to it's full extent, but still want to keep it looking good so i can get something out it when i sell it.

so i need help fitting harnesses, a cut off switch, plumbing in a fire extinguisher, removing a seat and losing some weight.

slightly confusing, in that under the chassis and bodywork section 5.5 class A looks to be for spaceframed racing beasts. B and C for road cars using original chassis and silouette. (and engine)
In the engine section 5.6, it then says that engine modifications are free, but they must be placed withing 200mm of the original engine. (which the honda is)
any idea's??
Last ditch attempt, could i argue that the Lotus/Honda F1 conection means i am eligible for Class C

It's not confusing, but they have done a tut with the regs.
Unless Maidstone have their conversion listed in Which Kitcar then it would be Class A.
Having said that you would still be racing with the guys doing similar times in Class C
of course you could ask "Someone" for a go in their Silver Shed, which would not take a huge amount to update to racespec and you never know we could have a few guys looking for a drive

i will never borrow the silver shed again It obviously doesnt care for my slightly heavier touch to the controls than the shed owner.
I suppose i could race mine in class A, like you say, but be racing on the track with class C cars.
How much of an advantage do soft compound slick tyres give?? 3-4 seconds a lap?? that would take me down to near the top guys in class A
