Alternatively, drive behind Tut and he'll remove the window for you

Its not a race/competition so just drive at your own pace. KH is a good place to learn to drive the car RELATIVELY safely.

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

Maybe somebody with experience who's going to the next SIDC event could have a word with organiser John Stewart to see about a 10 min novices-only warmup segment?

If this is agreed, any newbie could then consider the black cross on yellow sticker idea for the whole session, and it could be ref'd in the briefing, and lo and behold a whole bunch of track virgins pop their cherry and get a safer place to sample the extremes of the Elise's capabilities. Far better than finding limits on road.

Carlimits course would be a belter though, from what I've been told. Walshy had been known to come up to Scotland for a group booking but maybe the facilities availabe down south are more appropriate.

Yeah apprantly because his name is so good now there is no need for him to travel which makes sense. If he is fully booked down there no need to travel which costs more etc. Defo something I will do soon. I am chocking to be out on track but very nervous :D

yup lack of facility and lack of time are whats keeping Walshy down south - he's a busy boy.

So make the trip - the sooner the better (you'll enjoy the car even more) - almost worth thinking of it as a running cost :thumbsup

You may still be able to book a one:one session at Knockhill, not sure what they call it these days but it used to be one of their "experience" days where you could use one of their instruction cars or bring your own. Great way to get tuition on a clear track without pressure etc.

But from what I read the Walshy days kinda do all that and more, so even with extra cost of trekking down south it'd be worth it. And with your new car to play with, you could pick some nice routes to get there (let me know if you want any pointers!!!)

Walshy just teaches you more about the fundamentals&techniques of car control in your first session , how to steer, and how to control the car better - these can be applied in any situation, and its an awesome laugh! He is a very good instructor and will tailor your session dependant on your ability. (I must go again soon!!)

The KH one is more about circuit driving, the right lines, where to brake, where to keep the power on etc. They will drive you for 3 laps, showing you a correct lap, a wrong lap, and another correct lap. Then its back to you. Total laps driven are about 25.

Both useful, but the Walshy one will actually change your driving behaviours for the better (well apart from making you want to go sideways more)
