Thread's a bit unweildy to search, so apologies if this has been suggested before re. the misfire:-

Taken off the distrubutor and checked that the wee carbon brush hasn't perished/fallen off? Dried out the distributor, changed the HT leads?

YEah we presume the coilpack (or double coilpack) has gone, taking a trip up to Ali today get it sorted because I am sick of it haha. Changed the spark plugs, sized them made sure they where all right. Cleans all HT leads and it still misfiring so its either the leads or coilpack. Just going to leave it to Ali to sort then thats it done sick of mucking about with it I just want it fixed thats that.

Cool - guaranteed in a situation like that, it's always the last thing you change.

I take it the guy who sold it to you didn't mention the mis-fire issue?

There was no misfire issue when I bought it. I drove it 300miles up the road no problems and the next day a couple of hundred. I have just been very unlucky with it I think.

Could be a lambda issue!! worth checking out if you can borrow a sensor off someone else??? If the sensor is faulty and says the car is getting too much fuel when running normally it will cut the fuel back causing a missfire.. :?

Best of luck

Mark, with a VVC - I'd be 95% sure it's more HT related. I have one and it's the only temprament the engine has ever shown. The K's are less reliant on the Lambda than your turbo lump anyway - only ever used for emissions on cruise.

Saaweeet..... I retract the lambda comment.. Though I was basing it on my experience with a Grand Cherokee I used to have which developed a misfire and loss of power, greedy bloody car that was!!

Good Luck, Ali will fix it in a jiffy though!

Mark :thumbsup

If you are changing the HT leads do yourself a favour and take a dremel to cut out an access hatch in the boot bulkhead and use that to help you get in about.

You will need it anyway if you ever want to change the thermostat without removing the inlet manifold.

Remove the boot liner/carpet and there is a little recessed rectangle about 3" x 12" right behind the two coil packs.
