I think the previous ExpII is best in white DJ... I tried one on a few years ago (along with a Sub) and loved the white dial, but wasn't sure about the bracelet on either. I ended up leaving the dealers that day with an IWC Pilot Chrono instead. If I was to get a 16570 though, it would definitely be white.
When I went shopping this time around, I had set my sights on either a GMTIIc or the latest 216570 version of the white explorer. I tried the black dial on just out of curiosity while I was there... and it just clicked for me... but the white 216570 just didn't do it.
Strange how I prefer the previous model in white though..

WTF - is this the longest thread on here ? . . .

Anyways . . . have a seamaster auto which has seen about 15 years service, broke down about 4 years ago and went back to omega, repaired, broke in 2 months, they apologised and it's been perfect until the other day - dead again, now out of warranty . . . omega want 400 quideroonies to repair/service . . . given their track record I'm kind looking for someone better . . . any recommendations ? . . . I have a speedmaster manual as a backup, but the seamaster has never been off my wrist since about 2000 . . . sentimental value also, so it needs repaired properly somewhat regardless of cost . . .

reccomendations ?

Anyone used a watch maker in Edinburgh for repairs? My Tag just stopped the other day. Last time I got a quote for a service it was £600 and that was to send it away. Would much rather use someone local if possible.

FD

Martins of Glasgow have been a previous recommendation of mine......but they are starting to charge at the same level as the high street retailers.
Gail's Rolex was a £400 service.
I would give Cairncross a try and see what they quote in comparison.

Interesting . . . if independents are on price par with omega then it'll probably go to omega . . . 2 year warranty and the watch does come back as it it was brand new . . .

Will phone around . . .

Had a number of recommendations for Tomain Jewelers on Forth Street in Edinburgh. Going to sound them out tomorrow.

I think the people are making to much of the $10k (or £10k as thats how these things seem to go when they reach the UK) iwatch. people do spend a lot of money on a watches. You can also buy a 24c gold iphone or diamond encrusted phones.
Fair point but £10k buys a far nicer timepiece...
You can get a nice car for £10K

or a unimog
Landrover 90 = Muddy shed spec
Fiat panda = Couldn't care less spec
Landrover ?? = Muddy shrek spec
Unimog 404S = Very slow silly offroader spec
Kubota F1900 = Snowplough spec
