I just cleaned my car after throwing it in the garage from the fantastic Knockhill speedfair weekend.

Found the complete left hand rear end to be filled with stress cracks. I think I know when that happened (in the Newcastle - IJmuiden Ferry) but nowt can do about it. :(

I asked the staff to put me in another place when I got up to the Ferry as I was pretty close to an entry / exit door. They ignored me and as I found now.. with result..

Bugger :|

Then again.. have to drive faster now, so you can't see the cracks :)

Yvo,

Maybe worth dropping the ferry company a quick letter stating the cracks were caused by them? Never know, you may get some good will from them :)

mmm... sounds like a plan, I'm talking to the insurance company as well, but I don't know if they will pay for a respray based on "we don't know who's done this"

Let's see what DFDS is going to say..

Is your car insured whilst at sea/loaded on a boat - I have a funny feeling it isn't ...

Cheers,

All depends on the policy wording :)

I've sent an email to DFDS explaing the situation. I DID ask them if it would be possible to park her at another place and they denied, so I think they should at least do something.

As for the insurance.. we'll have to see.. I've got all risks insured (including trackdays and sprints). If I need to go to them, I can simply tell them somebody most have hit the car at some time at some place.

I'm pretty sure it must have been something soft as the point of impact only shows cracks. Even with a magnifying glass, I can't see the lightest scratch at this place..

Yeah, I remember a bit of argy bargy the first time we ever sailed with DFDS a long time ago and I wanted to understand to what extent they were responsible for damage to the vehicles in the garages ... the answer was basically that they denied any responsibility (in those days I was more precious about my car than I am now ;-)). Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I suggest you pick up the telephone and call them - if you cannot get sense from Holland, then call Stockholm or wherever their head office is ...

Cheers,
Robin
