Weird experience - South Deeside Road tonight

I had a strange journey home tonight and seek some advice as to what to do about it.

I was in the Exige.

Still on Leggart Terrace in the 30 zone with about 200m to the NSL sign, a black Focus overtook me at considerable speed.

This worried me a bit. I decided to follow him and keep an eye on him. I was careful not to go too close - didn't want to appear to be goading him.

He proceeded to drive like a complete nob - crossing solid white lines and intentionally weaving.

Interesting though - a couple of times he was flicking his winkers to indicate right then left. I didn't twig what this was at the time but now realise. I believe he was trying to lure me off the main road for a race.

Approaching the Durris straight, he did this right / left indicating thing and then turned left as if to go up the hill toward Durris. He stopped though so I slowed down and stopped as well (nobody behind at this point).

Got a look at him and guess what? ... young loon maybe 17 or 18 years old.

When I got home, I was ready to call the BiB to report it (I have the reg) but I've since decided to leave it (genuine but complex decision and partially based on a telephone conversation with a friend with some experience in this area).

The thought of opening up the P&J tomorrow though and seeing something tragic involving a familiar car - sends shivers down my spine.

I thought about posting this in one of the general areas but decided to keep it local.

One of the reasons for this is the possibility that it might be someone on here. If it is please email me - I'm worried about you and other road users and we need to speak (in a civilised manner I must add).

So do you people reckon I've called it right or should I be doing more.

I could post the reg but I'll give it 24 hours.

Be careful out there folks.

Cheers,

Eric :)

I'd have phoned the BiB just on the of chance. If it was legit and no intention other than someone on here trying to stop you to say hello (although i could think of better ways to do it) then he's clear and the BiB will be happy and all's well. Otherwise who knows what else his intentions were and as you mentioned you may have been able to prevent something happening later to someone else who did follow him.
Just my tuppence worth.

Chas

I'd say, and my $0.02 that he was just trying to goad you and see if you fancied a wee play! Being that young he was probably trying to see if you were a cruise member and fancied following him on some nice B twisties and then write about it later on a forum somewhere, about how he had skelpt a Lotus tonight...

I wouldn't bother with the BiB, if you had not tried keeping up with him, he would have just been someone who had seen you car, decided to skelp you out of a 30 as he couldn't wait for the NSL sign and see if you would keep chase.

I remember being that age, and getting all excited, but never took it to the extent, however 'young loons' these days have a much bigged Max Power culture to follow~!!

Anyway, just my thoughts.....

Dave

Eric you cannot consider yourself responsible for the behaviour of these s**theads and the BiB won't listen to u either.
I occasionally get these sort of idiots inviting me to a race.

I just try to catch their eye and give the slow shake of the head that i can only hope they understand as -

'You have got to be a moron'

Drive safely

Tony.

Your thread on pistonheads has a couple of replies.

Time to call the BiB, I think.
