New Domain Name + Stickers - Donations

It's been decided that we should buy a domain name in order to promote this site.

It should be around £39 for two years for a domain name.

As no one really has taken responsibility for this site we need some people to donate money in order to pay for the running of this site.

£5 each seems to be a reasonable amount.

We may have to donate more to cover costs for the stickers.

So anyone up for donating?
Just add to the list:

I'd chip in but I kind of agree with caleebra's post in the other thread. A new domain is one thing but I'd prefer to stick with the Scottish Elises name so it doesn't look like a split from the Yahoo group.

I also sort of agree but it's maybe a situation we can't win. Both have pros and cons. Maybe an option contacting Robin.

How about we get try and get the SE site updated and have links on it?
We could get urls to point to here and the Yahoo group e.g. http://forums.scottishelises.co.uk and http://groups.scottishelises.co.uk or similar.

Despite the fact that elise/exige ownership is still a wee while away yet and despite being a tight fisted weedgie git I'll stick in a few quid. :D

Okay - a bit concerned that the direction being taken would be exactly as feared, splitting the group. S_E isn't a huge group and the only reson it works is that we're all basically singing from the same songsheet.

With the very firm caveat that we HAVE to remain tied with the Yahooers, or it's going to fraction and die on it's arse, I'll be willing to pop in a few quid too.

Well we need to come up with a URL then.

Thing is...yahoo uses the http://www.scottishelises.co.uk

not good to use scottish-elises.co.uk

At the end of the day it's the same members using both sites so there is a chance that by boosting this forum it will split the group.

P.S.

Don't you just love fuc*ing politics! :?

In saying all this why dont we split completely and not narrow this down to Elises but open it up to the VX boys as well? After all we do have a couple of vx members.

For the very reasons I've mentioned. There are not enough owners for two separate groups. There's no reaason to f**k off a perfectly good bunch of people (barring one, who's actually left) just because they can't be arsed with PHP!!!

Oh, and nobody on S_E has a problem with VX's - barring a bit of sporting banter. AFAIK, there is more than one VX owner on S_E.

Nobody's stopping you starting whaterver the hell you want - but you'd be an idiot to walk away from a thriving successful group like SE and start something with exactly the same target market from scratch.

I'm not and I won't. I just want to see this site take off a little.

JJ mailed me about a free domain name site so I had another wee look tonight. It seems that http://www.scottishelises.net is currently available to buy, I don't know if DEL ever had this for the Yahoo group, doesn't seem so though.

Here's a site I used to find the ones available:
http://www.123-reg.co.uk/whois-results. ... &lookup=OK
Found it a bit strange that scottishelises.org is registered to Stu Cartwright off seloc!

Anyway, does anyone still want to get a new url?
