Any S2 owners had the footwell corrosion fix?

I'm confused. My S2 is a base model with black rubber mats stuck to the floor. From what I can make out from various statements online, any Elise with these mats is entitled to the fix if it's less than 8yrs old. I found this statement on Elises.co.uk from 2004:
"Lotus will, as a goodwill gesture, undertake the above treatment and improvements free of charge to any Elise within its 8 year chassis anti-corrosion warranty which was factory fitted with the PVC based floor mats"
I've noticed a couple of very slight bubbly areas on my mats, and thought, well.. I'll call MMC to get it booked in. Bill @ MMC has informed me that he believes the fix/replacement is only for S1's. I told him that I've got the same mats, so how would that make a difference, but all he said was that he is not aware of there being an issue on the S2.
I find this very strange, because the official statement on this issue was released only in 2004... and they only stopped using the PVC/rubber mats on base spec/race-tech cars a few months earlier.
Bill did recommend that I remove the rubber mats myself as it's not ideal if I can't wash/dry the floor regularly... and whilst doing that, I should check out the state of the floor... and if it was needing sorted, I'd have to get back in touch and they would take it up with Lotus as to whether they could do anything about it??
So.. it sounds to me like I'm having to do my own stripping out/cleaning with no guarantee that they will replace them with carpet... so I'd then be left with nothing should they decide not to replace it???
Here was me trying to be pro-active, in the hope that if I call them to sort it earlier in it's life, they'd get away with just doing the A-fix rather than the more costly B-fix.
Not particularly happy, and wondering if anyone with a PVC matted S2 has had theirs replaced like the S1's ?
Andy.
