McMerc SLR spotted with pics

Post by jj » Wed Apr 19, 2006 11:55 pm

Spied in the village this eve, thought it would be rude not to stop and take a couple of snaps of a £317k + options car  .

First time I had the chance to have a nosey around one, and I was disappointed with how SL-like it was inside, but it was still pretty cool. Interior was very like standard merc I thought, having seen Enzo and Zonda before it was much calmer. Bonnet is some length.

We stood for 15mins and I kid you not, nobody even looked at it. It could have been an A class, nobody slowed down / looked over in the time we were standing there, the exige got more looks - folk were walking past giving us funny looks like for standing staring at it! But then, if you want a supercar but want to be able to leave it parked at the side of the road its always an option

Also, scope out the state of the parking! The back wheel was hanging off the kerb

Know what you mean Ed, just such a shame Merc took a car with so much promise, and bogged it down into a cruiser. Such a disappointment after the balls-out F1

I got shown one at Western in Edinburgh. Sweet car, but if I was spending £317k would i choose that......no chance!

Oh, the insurance for the year was costing the chap £30k! He could have bought a Lotus for that and joined us on track!

I think they're great looking cars. Super long bonnet, short back end, pipes coming out the sills and those huge gill like vents. Sweet. :D

Shame mercedes make taxis.

The length of the bonnet was what got me, you almost sit at the back of the car. The tailpipes were very cool exiting at the sides.

Didnt look 317k in the flesh, but still awesomeness.... we waited about just to hear it drive off as most folk mention the noise more than anything else, but it wasnt for moving!

And my car wasnt parked 1/2 on the pavement kerb donkey!
