Which Exige?
Which Exige?
A friend has asked me my views on a certain Exige that he is thinking of buying. I am probably not the best person to give advice as I do not own one, but those of you with N/A models could chose which one they would go for if they were buying now with no trade in.
Upper limit I believe is around £20K, but I am assuming that in todays climate you would be looking for a fair wedge off that. I have seen the Exige S at £22K, so that could just come in.
He is looking on Pistonheads, so if you sort by lowest price first you will get just over a page. The one he picked out is a 2005 with cloth seats and no A/C, but a two year warranty. I told him which one I had picked out, but would be interested in your views.

Re: Which Exige?
There are two 06 exiges on Autotrader - one is £17450 in grey one is £17995 in blue.
They would be worth a look- the blue one is in Scotland as well, good value for 06 cars with the improvements.

Re: Which Exige?
It is always said that no a/c will affect resale attractiveness - not sure if true, as so few are this spec but it's said so often that it is probably a self-fufilling truth.

WillB reckons for a private sale no a/c = -2k

As a non A/C owner, I would say more like £500

Re: Which Exige?
Blue private one in Autotrader looked like it might be pretty good value, once you had battered the price down. But I don't think it's got the DBW, pedal box etc.. revisions.
WRT a/c, as anyone who uses an Exige regularly and not just for trackdays knows, it's almost essential to stop the car misting up in the rain..and pretty useful in Summer too if you keep the top on. A must have imho, especially when it's time to sell.
Good luck to whoever is buying.
Take care,
Frank

Re: Which Exige?
Thanks guys, will check out the Autotrader ones.
I personally would not buy one without A/C, especially if I commuted, and if you go abroad in Summer it is almost essential with the top on. From PH I would have gone for the blue 2006 one with 10K miles.

Re: Which Exige?
Hi Tut
Happy new year.
if he's going to use it as a road car, get an S. In fact get an S anyway! £22k will get you in the ball park, and there have been some nicely specced ones for the money.
There are some really cheap NA ones about, but having had that engine before (and Donkey Punched it) I loved the SC when i drove it. Way less effort, way quicker on the road - dont need to persuade you on the merits of an SC
Also gives him the option to Wallace it when the time comes
Hope 2009 is a good one for you

Re: Which Exige?
Aircon is a must!
Once you get heat soak into the chassis/sills in summer, it's just a sauna, & has been said already, de-misting with aircon in winter is also a doddle.
However, in my S1, I lost the conair when converting to Honda, & now find the cabin temps horrible in mid-summer, especially when out at Le Mans!
As for model to buy - ideally get one with the performance pack (or whatever it's been named over the years) ie sports seats/harnesses, plus twin oil coolers (earlier models came with just a single). Preference would be the "S", but the n/a is loads of fun too. Colour - pick what you like, & bollox to what anyone else thinks!
Good luck with the hunt - cash is king, so haggle hard!

Re: Which Exige?
Air con is for poofs, want cool air - wind a window down
In all seriousness I was never bothered by the heat in my S1, not even when driving down the south coast of Spain in summer.
Mind you, this is probably because I have never used it in the previous cars Ive had.
Out of the S and NA Id have the S purely for the tuning capabilities
