You may remember me from such threads as....

http://www.freeyabb.com/phpbb/viewtopic ... isheliseso

having kicked up a wee fuss, I got the following email re. an A service today:

We will pick up the bill but I will need the car in by 8.30 am to give me enough hours to complete the service

Gavin"

Fair play, I'm only getting what was due to me anyway, but I'm impressed I didn't have to send the heavy mob round to get it; credit where credit's due 'n all that.

I appreciate the proof may be in the pudding, and I'll wait & see what state I get the car back in before they get a proper thumbs up!

And make sure that they don't just stamp the book.

Take some photo's of the colour of the oil on the dipstick (probably quite dark after EF) should be a nice greenish hue once it's been replaced.

Also some talc on the hinges - that way you can tell if the lubricated them or not as per the service manual.

I'd also note the oriantation of the locking wheel nuts and put some very small witness markers on the wheel/hub to ensure the wheels have been taken off.

This isn't a go at MMC, but is a sensible precaution to take with anyone who is doing the work "for free" (excludes warrenty work as the manufacture pays)

Oh, and do you want somebody (avec spanner) to come and pick it up with you, to make sure they've actually done everything up more than finger tight?

Well, got car back having used the payment method 'Gavin' for what looked like a £384 'A' service

Oil is fresh, hinges all lubed, but I didn't check the wheelnut orientation (too early in the morning for that, and I forgot). Seems to have been done & dusted - car even got a wash!

So, IM(humble)O, not a bad word to say about MMC weedge :thumbsup
