Yesterday was Exige.coms annual track day this year it was at Donington. We had great weather and over 40 Exiges! Gav & Matt cam up from the factory with two Exiges one S one standard. They both did instruction in the morning and hot laps in the afternoon.

The track was amazing a '3D' track like KH. The instruction was excellent and the hot laps revealing Gav in the S could not shake Matt in the standard Exige

Adrian Newy was there and managed to take one of the factory cars out for a spin.

One of the S1 Exiges had a Honda SC kicking out 360hp

I had Jims sports cat fitted before I went down and noise tested the zaust afterwards

Great day only problem is now I need 4 new 48s and four new brake discs

He had a classics race on the Sunday driving a GT40 and was curious about the latest version of the Exige (Exige S) so went for a few laps.

IIRC back in 2001 he had a 300BHP BBR conversion with some "minor modification2 via the Mclaren Mercedes windtunnel facility that resulted in a custom gurney and ditching the 160 spoiler.

How did that conversion get ignored and all these new boyson the block wet their pants over 240bhp Hondas!

'cos it was a fcukin shed! It was never really properly done - huge boost delivered in one solid lump and a gearbox so tall that you only used 3 gears for 90% of the UK's circuits. I think he must have junked the idea...

Shame, an idea before it's time, but very, very poorly executed.

The couple of race Mazda MX5s, bike engined buggies and the touring cars (on slicks) were a pain in the arse. Everyone else were perfect.

Not really that racy Gareth, most people were well behaved. The factory drivers were giving hot laps so 'pointy elbows' when it came to traffic. I counted 3 red flags all day and no car damage so better than most 2hr KH sessions.

The MX-5's were all racers (turbo'd engines, some running 200bhp plus!) and they tended to get into there own wee battles, I remember overtaking a gaggle of them up the main straight, got past 4 of the 5 then on the brakes. I looked in my mirror and they were 4 abreast into the chicane!

Difficult to tell if the S pulls much on the straights (it should, even with a pax), it's all about corner exit speed. Also remember that a gap will open up on the straights even if the cars are lapping at exactly the same rate (measure the gap in time rather than distance).
