what can SE members do to help eachother out?

Post by ninja » Thu May 11, 2006 9:33 am

following on from the need an architect thread, i was just wondering what useful talents and skills the members on here can offer to one another?

i'm a chartered structural engineer and i'm quite happy to carry out structural surveys gratis providing you don't want a written report and can, as with pete's garage provide structural/civil design input, drawings and certifcation for your new house, extension or whatever you need to get through building control (there will be a fee for this as you'll be paying for my employer to take liability for the structure, but i'd keep the time put against the job down so it'll not cost you an arm and a leg). Our fee for pete's garage was 20% of what it was costing him elsewhere

so anyway - what can you lot do to help eachother?

Anyone looking for a Subsea Tree give me a call. ;)

Seriously, my potentially useful skills would be mechanical engineering calcs. (bolting, pressure vessels, Finite Element Analysis etc.).

Cheers,
Ali

I'm an electronics engineer and my only experience thus far in the 4 years since leaving uni has been in the area of unmanned underwater vehicles (ROV/AUV)... I can see that being helpful to everyone out there

I’m a Solicitor and am happy to help with anything legal.

I do commercial civil court work so am no use with crime (including speeding) but can lend a hand with pretty much anything else.

Anything substantial would have to go through the firm but would obviously keep the fee to a minimum, otherwise happy to help.

Graham
