Have a polo which needs an MOT.(in edinburgh). Nothing specific wrong. Just need somewhere friendly that someone can recommend that won't tell me i need new tyres shocks bushes track rod blah blah.

Also, a tester in or near kilmarnock. I have a volvo thats been SORN for about a year. 89 plate so will probably fail an MOT. (if it fails does anyone ever offer a free retest?)

PM me.
Cheers.

If they still do it, take it the Lothian Regional Transport garage on Leith Walk. They do not offer repairs and have no vested interest in failing your car. What's more they may offer discounted re-test because as they don't do repairs you always have to have it repaired elsewhere.

I used to have their number - give me a shout if you cannot find it - though I wonder with the advent of privatisation whether that service vanished ...

Failing that, the MOT tester at the blackhall farmers is sound - 332 5959. He has done my Elise two years running - thorough but never failed it on anything, despite it having loads of play in the steering rack that he spent ages trying to work out where it was coming from ...

Cheers,
Robin

The Killie option could be taken care of by Croft Services in Tarbolton. Pretty sure there's no free re-test, but I'm reasonably confident that they won't scam you either....
