Food for thought... SE top shed challenge

Just a thought,.. for just now;

I have had an idea  (doesn't happen often, and can be dangerous  ). I was thinking it could be quite good fun to do an SE top gear style challenge. We get into small teams, and set a budget of a £300-£500 to buy a shed, then do some challenges; road trip, mod car, motorsport (grass track or something) :drive ... plenty of things to come up with (see Dave for top gear repeats). In true top gear style, the choice of cars could follow a certain theme (i.e cars of certain age / style / etc),.. but was thinking something big engined / highish power. Been having a quick look at classic car websites, pistonheads and autotrader, and likes of old jags / mercs / sports car can be picked up for buttons.

Some sample suggestions.

Crazy idea? Would never work? Would be a great laugh? Thoughts please....

Now you're talking! Could poss do a deal for £500 for that???? Tempting to raise the budget, but was thinking of 3 to a team, putting in £150 - £200 each, to cover purchase and minor repairs. Depending on what the challenges would consist of, the 'challenge' car could always be sold on, to get some pennies back out of it.

A couple of my previous project shed cars;

Seirra XR4x4i, bought £100, spent circa £500 on it, sold for £800ish.
BMW 325i (TSE spec), bought £200, spent £150ish, sold for £600... after SE ragging it for years.

So, a well planned shed project, need not cost anything over it's life. The final challenge could be to sell the shed for a profit.

I'd thought of doing this, but then trying to punt it on and see who got the most points, pennies and prizes.

Would be up for it without doubt. Not sure my nieghbours want a 5th car in my driveway though :damnfunny

Maybe one for the winter?

Evo have been doing something similar.

PS. please can I have Robin in my team!

PPS. it should be SE Top Shed Challenge - surely

A Kames event and a an autotest - KH track session - a hill climb - could be part of it - then a sell it by date.......

Team Iddon - Robin shows Andy and Greg where the "fools" (Mr T voice) who made the "shed" went wrong and corrects their feeble enginering efforts, rendering the car grossly more valuable - or he'll say "f*ck it" lets kill the b*itch

And i bet the Boag team would do bloody well also

Team McKean would keel over once he'd driven it in anger

Team Cruikshank would set a lap record, before spinning off

And Team Tut - well clearly he'd be out dicking all comers , before pinching bits of their cars :damnfunny

Team Mass would retire after Mass makes them car sick on an endurance knockhill lapping attempt (yes another)

Team DDTB car would end up weighing 50% more after it was "pimped out"

Team Vxjon would need talc to get in and out of their motor in their catwoman outfits

Team Sanj would miss some events going for romantic road runs

Team Gibson would have the best looked after car and trailored everywhere

Team Paine would get their car for free, and then sell it in bits for a profit

An EACC grass test (kinda autotest meets sprint on grass) could be a good mix.

I guess if we can get a few teams up for it, it could be a goer! We can think of a timescale, say, get teams together over the next few weeks, get car for the end of May, then do some challenges over the summer, and sell Sept / Oct time.

I'd be up for this!!

Team Arphotographs, spends to long taking photos and looses the challenge.

Team Al Rennie, Spends to long cleaning the car, then refuses to let it go round the track.

I think team of 5, budget of £100 each?

I'll go in a team with Dom

Adam

I'm in on a basis of £500 top whack for the purchase.

I'm not sure we need to limit team numbers - what's to say there couldn't be a team of 10 chucking in £50 each - up to them how they divvy up the driving.

Vehicle to be suitable for an autotest, grass test and maybe a Hot Hatch melee - but how do we score that? Sprints & Hills would require licenses that most don't have.

Hot hatch - Work it out 1 pt for every car passed and 1pt off for every time overtaken. 10 pts for every scumbag in a nova bonced off track?

Use the KH cameras for coverage ( might not really work but fun trying )

Test day at kames- Pick a time and add/remove pts for over/under
