Cheers for the heads up.
I also saw a silver umarked a4 i think it was on the M8 over in the weej. Never seen or heard of unmarked audis before.
I do keep an eye on the rear view mirror but sometimes difficult to tell. What are the identifiers again?!
Ive got:
Lots of aerials, two rear view mirrors, two up, new-ish car.
Anything else I should be looking out for?!

not much use if you're in front but as they usually sit just below the speed limit if you're coming to overtake they very rarely have dealer stickers on the back window. Always suspicious of new looking powerful cars with no dealer stickers sitting at 3-5mph below limit. Always pass with caution

Just drive at the correct speed
You can't, well i can't go about looking at every car wondering if its the cops or not

Tayside have (had?) an unmarked that was fairly easy to spot from behind. It had lights mounted in the rear window!? Also, the obvious square lights behind the grill. Also, they all use some kinda of road safety tax disc holder / road safety stickers instead of dealer stickers etc.
Of course none of this should matter to us as we don't break any laws anyway.

I heard a rumour from a very reputable source that you can't get tugged for speeding on the FRB - there's an oddity in the trunk-roads network definition that means the 50mph limit ain't enforcable.

They pulled him over between the end of the bridge and the junction up to the shell garage so basically jsut as it ends. Was too far behind* to see if he was spanking it or not so not sure what he was tugged for.
* i was on the bike, and i fooking hate that bridge so i was trying to concentrate on onlly what was immediately ahead of me!

I seen an unmarked Audi A6 a few weeks back on the west side of Edinburgh which had given some young ned a tug.
Seems like a simple Ford or Vauxhall will no longer suffice. Our cops are getting as bad as our MP's

We have unmarked BMW touring (silver) and a Merc Estate (silver) here in the borders Just go up and down the A7 and 68 all day long looking for unsuspecting drivers a few miles above the limit while total crap drivers seem to get a blind eye turned there way.

I'm guessing it may be a little too late if you are close enough to read the dealer sticker on the number plate unless you are related to the 6 million $ man

and you can't possibly do that whilst everyday driving. Best advice would be to stick to the limit or at least keep your head below the parapet by not being the fastest car on the road and just go with the flow.

Nope - seen some unmarked cars with none of the above.
Simple case of keeping it sensible and being aware. I get shifty if I'm doing an extended cruise at slightly elevated tuts and you get a feel for the 'body language' of cars. Also on long runs on motorway - I'll often drop well under the limit for a min or two and see if there is anything that decides to do the same behind me. Keeps you alert as well.
Still, no hard and fast rules apart from if you don't wanna get caught - don't speed...
